crash on saving
The game crashes on saving about 50% of time. No matter if I save with crystals, quick or manual save.

Prompt says something like: This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.

My specs:
i5 4460
8GB RAM
R9 280
Windows 10 x64

I would just like to add that I have played the game when it came out on the same hardware (but on Windows 7) and I never had this problem.

Any guesses?

Are you playing a custom mod?
Tihi Dec 1, 2016 @ 12:50am
sorry for the late reply, I was away from computer for a while.
No, I don't have any mods installed. Differences were OS (w7 to w10) and possibly game patches in last 20 months.

I tried to play it again, but this time it crashed on loading with "not enough memory" error. I have sent the log to developer, and I guess I'll take a break from the game until I solve this.

If you're playing the game as it is available from Steam with no custom mod like "Eye of the Atlantis" it is not possible that the game runs out of memory. The behavior you're stating looks very much like playing "Eye of the Atlantis" mod with High Texture settings. That's why the mod author tells everybody to reduce texture settings before playing his mod.

I'll ask again: what mod are you playing or what modification have you done to the game?

No mods, I don't know how else to put it. Believe me, I would be aware if I installed any. I even went to check the workshop to be sure if I have subsribed to one.

This is from the log (not enough memory is sort of confusing as it shows plenty of ram left):

Total Mem: 8127 MB
Free Mem: 5323 MB
....
Loading main campaign dungeon
=== Software Failure ===

not enough memory
Dr.Disaster Dec 3, 2016 @ 6:40am
LoG2 for windows - even in it's latest version 2.2.4 - is a 32 bit application which means it's limited to 2 Gigs of memory. For an "out of memory" error to happen the game needs to requests about 1.8 Gigs from windows but this is NOT POSSIBLE with an unmodified game.

Only large custom mods which include custom assets run into this problem. For example simply starting "Eye of the Atlantis" mod requires 1.5 Gig while the game's own campaign hardly goes past 1.3 Gigs at any given point.

The only reasons that loading a regular LoG2 campaign save game causes an "out of memory" crash is that the game files are either corrupt or the game has been tempered with.

I have tried new game, same thing, so the corrupted save is probably not a thing.
Only once have i gotten out of memory error (on loading), other times it crashed on saving.

I have now installed nad tried Grimrock unlimited mod, played for half an hour without crash. That just confuses me more.

I'll try to uninstall the game and delete all files, then reinstall.

I have the same issue. Everytime when i try so save, i get this error:

=== Software Failure ===

[string "Config.lua"]:0: attempt to index a nil value
stack traceback:
[string "Config.lua"]: in function 'save'
[string "Settings.lua"]: in function 'apply'
[string "Settings.lua"]: in function 'update'
[string "GameMode.lua"]: in function 'update'
[string "Grimrock.lua"]: in function 'display'
[string "Grimrock.lua"]: in main chunk

I get this error even when i change something in the options.

No, you don't. Tihi's problem was that his PC ran out of memory during load and save.

As far as your crash goes:
Are you playing a custom mod? (your message indicates a mod with a scripting error)
Do you run the current unaltered game version that is distributed by Steam?

Yeah I gave up after not finding a solution. If you find it please post it here, I would love to play it again.

In that case the only possible explanation is a corrupt installation / game data file.

Sorry, can't find something that only happens on your system.

The unmodified v2.2.4 requests 1.1 GB RAM for starting a new game of the campaign.
Starting a new game of the Grimrock Unlimited mod requires 0.9 GB RAM.

If more RAM gets requested something fishy is going on in your system.

Very strange because the game did never run on my system. I did reinstalled a couple times but get always the same error.

What do you mean by "did never run"?
You could change the game options which means the game starts up fine.
You also tried to save by menu or F5 which means you were in the game, playing it.

Let Steam verify your installation; maybe even try a different Steam server.

Sorry, I mean, I have this issue since the first run. It's strange that the game files are always corrupt when i downloaded it
