Well technically FFXIV 1.0 was the last real FF, but since the majority of gamers did not experience it and it's no longer possible to play it, then I get why many think FFXII was the last real FF game. FFXIV 1.0 was made by Tanaka, one of the original classic FF creators, and Naoki Yoshida (not an original classic FF creator) turned it into a terrible FF circus (seriously, the game is so terrible that they sell skip passes so you don't have to suffer through Yoshi-P's terrible stories and every expansion follows a terrible formula, ton of boring quests, then a dungeon, ton of boring quests again, then a primal battle, now repeat from the launch of FFXIV 2.0 ARR until now, also no exploring is allowed in the expansions, you have to suffer through the storyline to gain access to other zones, you can't just explore the world, nope, you have to have your hand held...in every expansion... Just terrible.)

I the only FF I played after 10 was 15 and I agree, 15 was not a Final Fantasy game. These new FF games are FF in title name and monsters only. Oh, I guess they have a character called Cid in all of them so that makes it Final Fantasy I suppose..........

FF13 is a good game, Lightning Returns was very fun, Stranger Of Paradise is actually the best game of them all.
