It's pretty basic/common information in the IT world. A system restarting/shutting down is an instability issue and NOT a game issue. The most common causes are overheating, unstable ram XMP profile, failing PSU. Just because all of your games work fine does not mean your system is stable. Sections of a game can be designed to be very intensive that when encountered quickly crash an unstable system, 100% GPU/CPU load is different based on the instructions set and load they are dealing with. For example a GPU at 100% using ray tracing will pull more watts than another gpu at 100% with it turn off.

A game CRASHING is "likely" a game issue. For those of you saying it's the DRM, if it was the DRM you would only likely see a BSOD if anything.

SirReyes23 - Try turning off your XMP profile in the bios, if that doesn't stop the crashing my money is on a failing PSU.

You "may" be able to get around the PSU issue by power limiting your GPU using MSI after burner.

Having this issue as well, although it's to do with my GPU overclock. It's an overclock that's VERY very mild and I've tuned it back even since, and it seemingly only happens with this title. I assume there are others out there that can push the GPU the right way to cause the issue, but-

Definitely a very CPU-intensive game, let alone GPU.

I think I've had about 15 crashes since it launched the other day. Fresh drivers, I've changed and reset and changed again basically every setting both in game graphics and driver based, I've reset BIOS to defaults, I've checked in event viewer, nothing fixes it. I have hardware monitoring up the whole time the games running and theres literally no indication anythings wrong. It will crash in literally any scenario in the game, from GPU taxing cutscenes to zero-stress menu screens. Sometimes I get a couple of hours of game sometimes I get 20 seconds. Haven't had any issues with other games (at least, ones I can't solve, and nothing like this). Game plays completely fine for me otherwise, no stuttering or lag or anything. Literally have no idea what is going on.

yeah, right, the brief shot of a stone monolith and some bags on the floor that is always in town and viewable at any time is real intensive...

look, its clearly a game issue. i'm still gonna stick some new thermal paste on my cpu later anyways since its been needing it and it gives me a chance to stick another drive in there as well, but nothing is overheating.

You explain to me the mechanism that exists within windows that allows a game to take control of your computer and shut it down. It can't do it, it has no way to do that.

I'm the one not listening? I never said it gave me a blue screen, it's not a blue screen, it just shuts itself off without restarting. I checked everything, the cpu temperature is fine, my psu is fine, all drivers are up to date and it doesn't happen with any other game or application and it never happened before in my entire life. Also i saw reports of people saying their ps5's where restarting without overheat warning, back when the game first came out. So give me a solution or ♥♥♥♥ off

One thing you can try is if you have ICUE try turning it off before playing. I know if I try to play any game that uses unity engine (this game isn't i know) it will cause my pc to shut down.

ICUE? The Corsair software?
Jesus, that's only supposed to handle RGB, fans, macros..
I've heard bad things, but- I guess there are a good number of alternatives somebody could use if they needed those same features anyway.
Spook Rooster Sep 21, 2024 @ 6:24pm
ICUE is awful. i used it to map my mouse since i had no other choice and then yeeted that bloated garbage off my system.
