Lower price (a decent gaming computer is easily almost twice as expensive)?
Plug 'n Play without having to spend a while to configure or even patch a game if it cannot run?
Easier retrocompatibility when available?
Being able to own physically your games?
I dunno but many Xbox games are still exclusive (especially XBLA and 360), there are many Sony first party games that aren't ported on PC (or at least not badly) and Nintendo still has many exclusives (and the portability without having to spend much more).
Plus, the exclusive argument can also bounce back in PC's favour as there are plenty of great exclusive games (especially indies) you can only get on PC.
A PC is very expensive for the initial cost, but you save so much more in the long run with free online, far better discounts on games, wider game selection etc.
Modern consoles are plug in and play in the same way that modern PCs are plug in and play.
We don't live in the 6th console generation anymore where you could just start playing right away simply by putting the disc in with no patches or installs necessary.
Also, you at least have the option to patch games on PC if the official product isn't up to expectations, case in point Colours Ultimate with the Project Re-Rainbow mod. You can't do that on consoles at all.
Moot point as outside of XBOX it's practically non-existent outside of remasters which also more often than not come to PC anyway.
God of war on PC
Spiderman on PC and spiderman 2 is on the way.
Stellar blade PC port also is on the way
Silent Hill 2 which was originally a planned PS5 exclusive on PC
Only exclusive theyve gotten was demon souls and let's face it that won't last long.
Only console this generation that has exclusives is Nintendo and that's because Nintendo would rather die before it puts any of its games on PC.
Also "Lower cost."
Argument stopped applying when a average controller cost you 80 to 100$
Your console cost you around 600 to 1000$
Only console that remains affordable is switch.
Hell a vr headset is cheeper then a series x or PS5 is right now. And has way more exclusive then either of them combined.
There are many PS360 games still on consoles.
Most Nintendo games are exclusive to Nintendo consoles.
It's nuGoW not the classics.
Spiderman 2 is eh.
Stellar Blade is another Souls like.
SH 2 remake but not the original.
I'd rather have the og Demon's Souls and Bloodborne on PC.
Yes and they still manage to be good like that.
You'd still need to pay for the controller on PC.
Configuration is often for the first launch. For PC games it's always.
And most games are digital only so it's not like you can sell them back.
The Switch is still more or less plug n play.
Modding a game to make it work is already telling a lot about it.
Yeah, I thought not. The classic GoW games aren't available on the current gen PS systems, not even through emulation which PC has been able to do for years now.
(reminder that PCSX2 also lets you use your original game discs if you have a disc drive)
And instead of remastering old legacy games that people would've wanted to see remastered and give them much more of a reason to exist, Sony insists on remastering games you can already buy on the current gen systems and/or PC.
Let's not tell him that The Crew exists (a game with single player content that has always online DRM even on consoles, which have been taken offline earlier this year) so even disc copies cannot be resold anymore. Plenty of other physical games require online content downloads either for the complete game (Spyro Reignited) or to play at all (Modern Warfare 2).
Ever since the 8th console gen started, disc based games lost all practical purpose. The only difference between a disc and digital copy is that the former requires a disc inserted just to launch the game whereas the latter does not.
Can you use Project Re-Rainbow for the console versions of Colours Ultimate or the Dreamcast Conversion mod for the PS3/360 versions of Sonic Adventure? No? My point exactly.
I'm not saying that mods should exist to fix a game's core issues as they really shouldn't be necessary to make a game good - what I am saying is that mods can fix a game's core issues, which is still not possible on consoles. Meaning the console versions of Colours Ultimate are bad forever, whereas the PC version, while still not good, can be fixed and improved.
