Minor nitpick, but Shadow is on a different engine than Sonic.
Sega have been following Nintendo's lead for a while now, though. Sonic Lost World, Sonic Frontiers, Sonic Superstars (though I guess that and Wonder came out at a similar time, hard to say who had the idea first), and now this. Since I don't play Nintendo games, it doesn't bother me, but I imagine if you play both series' it'd get kind of old after a while.
