Chaos Control Lore Inconsistency?

Reading Gerald's journal reveals the origins of the Biolizard. Starting from a small salamander (as depicted on page 530), it turned into the giant lizard we're all familiar with. This is due to the exposure of chaos emeralds/chaos drives, which turned the lizard into a hard to control liability. That halted Gerald's progress in his research for Project Shadow. It wasn't until Gerald made his deal with Black Doom where he used his DNA to create Shadow, which allowed him to interact perfectly with Chaos Emerald energy. That explains why Shadow's predecessor radically differs from Shadow's eventual design.

But with that being said, how are Sonic and Silver able to use chaos control if it takes Black Arms DNA for Shadow to manage to do it?

Am I missing some lore? Am I looking too far into this? Probably. But what are your thoughts on both Gerald's journal and the possible inconsistency?

Sonic lore has only recently established some sort of consistency, but an easy conclusion to come to would be that chaos emerald radiation can have a lot of different effects, from space time corruptions, to imbuing super speed, to size boosts

Anyone with a Chaos Emerald can do Chaos Control.

Inherent Chaos Control is where the Black Arms DNA comes in. It makes Shadow better at it and capable of doing it with no emeralds, same as Black Doom.

Its likely Gerald based Shadow's design around the murals on Angel Island that depict a godly chaos creature which we know is Sonic and we know that the Chaos Emeralds come from space so its not crazy that Sonic could just be "the chosen one" with a natural ability to harness chaos power while the Black Arms or specifically Black Doom can as well. Being able to use the chaos emeralds isn't a that rare as we can see Knuckles can channel their power through the master emerald, the gizoids can use them, metal and mecha sonics use them and Eggman designs a lot of machines around them. Black Doom is just where the idea of Chaos Control came from and Sonic/Silver learned it from him and probably could have always done it.

As to why Silver can do it, that was during Sega's "only male hedgehogs can do it" phase but Trip the Sungazer is another creature that can use them and like Bluetomahawk said it could vary on the creature as we do see that Trip grows in size.

Sonic been turning Super with the Emeralds before Adventure 2, so he likely had a lot of Chaos Energy before hand that he likely met the requirements to perform it, just didn't know about it until seeing Shadow do it

For Silver, likely either just having a Chaos Emerald or potential backstory, he has telekinesis after all, so anything possible

^ Yep neither Sonic or Silver knew about it until they mimicked Shadow and even Shadow didn't know they could go through time and presently no one knows because Memphis Tennessee didn't "force" them to learn.
