so forces is bad for what shadow generations is good?
sonic forces main complaint is levels that can be boost trough non stop.
MOST of act 1 shadow levels ARE like that but that is a good thing now?

at 30 seconds you take an alternate path which is already more than i can say for the entirety of forces level design

also very curious what the end goal is here. Are you wanting more people to like Forces, less people to like Shadow, or some combination of the two? My solution to either of those would be to go outside and throw a football

i love shadows games like shadow 05 and shadow gens. also sonic forces the dark team. now i dont get why a game is hated for the same reason another game is loved.
having alternate paths that after 10 feet merge to a single main path is stupid not a true alternate path if you ask me

Forces had other issues as well. Levels were far too short averaging 1-2 minutes in length as opposed to 4-5 in Shadow Generations and any semblance of multiple paths only gave the illusion of freedom as they play out in more or less the same way, or are worse than taking the main path. The third red star ring in Mortar Canyon is the perfect example of what I mean. (see 0:44)

Shadow Generations, meanwhile, follows a very similar design philosophy Sonic Generations used, where the higher paths are usually faster but harder to reach or stay on, with the lower routes being slower, more dangerous and the game's way of penalising the player for mistakes.

There's also a high skill ceiling with the way Chaos powers are handled. Using Chaos Control at the right time can make the difference between saving seconds off your time and losing valuable seconds. Forces, however, has a very low skill ceiling. Most levels can be beaten very easily simply by boosting through everything with nothing to master.

People complain that Forces stages are a minute long. Sure there are some Sonic sections that are largely just hold boost but at most that's 1/4 of the game.

i think we have seen that sonic and shadow thing is the BOOST levels. we had sonic 06 with 20 minutes long stages jumping killing robots and bouncing everywhere and sonic boosting on super speed levels that where wroken as hell and where not fun when the character is stuck on a invisible rail and you cannot stop the boost not even on death.

I don't need to watch your video because I S-ranked every stage in the game twice. I know they aren't.
so you know its a BOOST type of levels ALL the acts 1 of shadow
Are we ignoring all the other issues Forces' levels have ? :squirtheh:
Like how they are too short, lack any alternate paths, barely require to even touch the analog stick, have QTE lasting sometimes a third of the level time (:squirtyay:)
Now, when it comes to gameplay possibilities, I think using the first level of a game to prove a point is disingenuous but even then there's more stuff happening in your video than in the entirety of Sonic Forces, and this is just the first level...

Dude. Even the deliberately lazy playthrough you've just shown used Chaos Control numerous times (and you got hit when you DIDN'T use it), used Homing Attacks in place of boost because it wouldn't be optimal, had chosen a side route at the very beginning - one of multiple side routes that are ever present and used a Chaos Control shortcut with the missiles forming a road in the air. No level in Forces has this amount of engagement with the player. So no. They are not the same in any way, shape or form.

i LOVE boost levels. hate the slow ones yet people hates forces because they are boost levels and too small for their taste

People hate Forces because holding the boost button solves 90% of the problems in that game. All the levels in it are short and lack any side routes (and thus, replayability, which is where a lot of the fun in Sonic games comes from). Unleashed, Colors, Generations and ShadowGens are nothing like it.
