also very curious what the end goal is here. Are you wanting more people to like Forces, less people to like Shadow, or some combination of the two? My solution to either of those would be to go outside and throw a football
having alternate paths that after 10 feet merge to a single main path is stupid not a true alternate path if you ask me

Shadow Generations, meanwhile, follows a very similar design philosophy Sonic Generations used, where the higher paths are usually faster but harder to reach or stay on, with the lower routes being slower, more dangerous and the game's way of penalising the player for mistakes.
There's also a high skill ceiling with the way Chaos powers are handled. Using Chaos Control at the right time can make the difference between saving seconds off your time and losing valuable seconds. Forces, however, has a very low skill ceiling. Most levels can be beaten very easily simply by boosting through everything with nothing to master.

Like how they are too short, lack any alternate paths, barely require to even touch the analog stick, have QTE lasting sometimes a third of the level time (
Now, when it comes to gameplay possibilities, I think using the first level of a game to prove a point is disingenuous but even then there's more stuff happening in your video than in the entirety of Sonic Forces, and this is just the first level...
