Please do not delist the original
This remaster looks great with its new content and the visuals not being butchered like Colors Ultimate. But please just DO NOT delist the original. Just let both versions be available for purchase. Generations is the Skyrim for Sonic in terms of mods. Please let new fans be able to easily access these.
You already did it with Origins and everyone got mad, so PLEASE do not make the same decision, SEGA.
Ah, who am I kidding. They probably will, along with having Denuvo and no regional prices (as it's SEGA, a classic).

I will cry if they delist the original, it's not necessary

Fingers crossed, but you know SEGA :/. I’m still upset on what Origins could’ve been

Why is this a stance so many have? Nothing is going to happen to your mods or your game if it gets delisted. It isn't going to matter. What Sonic fan doesn't already own this game? This would only effect someone new trying to buy the game... but, what were you doing since 2010? I don't really get the point.

New fans appear all the time. That's the point. They won't be able to experience the amazing mods without resorting to pirating the game.

Then this nameless figure can buy this version and download the ported mods. Chances are this won't be like Origins, so the modding community very likely will thrive even harder than the original Generations one. Besides the fact that mods are not SEGA's job or concern, it's the base game itself. Out of the box the original has a lot of configuration issues with modern PCs. Every time I change monitors I get errors and have to re-do the config. They probably don't want the old version clogging up their support anymore

I don't understand how they can drop this insanely hyped announcement trailer out of nowhere, and all you people can do is complain. This is why developers don't listen to anything we say anymore. It's never enough

No, that's not happening. This'll be done on an entirely new engine, and many mods aren't being developed anymore (Unleashed Project being the main one) so they'd need to be done pretty much from scratch. Denuvo also won't help with modding the game if it has it. And even if it isn't from the mods, if this new "remastered" version has bugs and glitches that weren't in the original (hopefully it won't though) or has content removed (something tells me that some songs from the jukebox won't make the cut) then the original version should be available for that matter.
And why do we say this stuff? Because the last two ported Sonic games (Sonic Colors Ultimate and Sonic Origins) were not good versions and we don't want this game to be like those again. In both cases, the originals are better to play for one reason or the other.

Common Kool-Aid drinker response... Frontiers has Denuvo. I guess it has 0 mods. lmfao.

I said it won't help, not that it won't have mods. Denuvo obviously makes it more difficult to mod the game. I'm aware that Frontiers has lots of mods, but it probably will never reach its true modding potential due to that.

yeah but the moment it gets delisted anyone that still doesn't have the old game is gonna not be able to buy the game just to be able to play mods

Again, who are these people? I understood the argument with CD and the old games because they weren't readily available on everything. But this one has been available on PC in the major stores for over a decade. Who are these people?

SEGA also just doesn't care about someone buying their game to only play a mod. The main one ya'll seem worried about, the Unleashed Project... it's only a matter of time before they do it themselves. Don't worry. Any other "important" mod is gonna be ported.

Well, for example, kids. After the Sonic movies, loads of kids got into Sonic. If the original Generations is available and they discover things like the Unleashed Project, they can enjoy it by buying the game and not resorting to piracy. If the game is delisted, they only have this version, which will definitely never have all of the mods automatically ported. Also, this version is probably gonna be a LOT more expensive due to the Shadow content. So for those that only care about base Generations, they can have exactly that with the original.
Doubt Unleashed will be ported. Not really profitable due to the mixed general reception. Even then, the Unleashed Project actually plays better due to using Generations physics.

Sega is famous for delisting older versions of the game. Sadly, i think they will delist generations.

This is actually a good reason to want a Generations remaster or even remake at this point. Seeing Unleashed gameplay with some further polish and refinement like we got in Generations while fixing some of the original's flaws such as the medal progression and the werehog's lack of drop shadows would be a great way to incentivise players who already owned the original game to buy it a second time.

Yeah, for Sonic fans that's the holy grail of ports/remasters. But for the general audience, it's "that game where Sonic turns into a werewolf and is very slow"
