I'm a bit confused about Trails of Cold Steel placement in timeline...
Ok, I've just finished SC, and went on looking on the internet for Trails of Cold Steel and it's place with trails in the sky. Sometime later, i found this:
http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/694913-the-legend-of-heroes-trails-of-cold-steel/72626524

"There's also an unavoidable story spoiler for something that happens in SC, simply because Cold Steel takes place where and when it does, compared to the story in Liberl."

Errrr...correct me if I'm wrong, but can you guys explain me how can an event that happened in an other country entirely and ONE YEAR after the start of Cold Steel, how could that event happen in the first place? Does the game even take place during SC trails in the sky? what? Confused

I think that image is at least slightly off, the trade conference just happened in cold steel for me and there's still more game left yet that chart says it doesn't occur until after.

The chart was from falcom, if you look closely at the image of cold steel its not solid like the others it means that the story continues onwards.

Cold steel 1 takes place at the same time as Zero no Kiseki, it is after Sora no kiseki the 3rd and thus probably one year after SC

Cold Steel take place at the same time as Zero and Ao no Kiseki, the unlocalized games, Its Zero who is more related to SC/3rd. We get to know the true about Renne, and Joshua/Estelle joins as final members with the new mc, Ao no Kiseki being some month after they just help against Ouroboros but do not join. Cold Steel on the contrary mark the war of Erebonia vs Crosbeell, zero/Ao city, and in Cold Steel II we get to play with Ao mc after its conclusion. Basically the most spoiled game here will be Ao no kiseki.

Incidentally, if you're willing to ignore 3rd/Zero/Ao for the time being, Cold Steel actually flows surprisingly decently coming from SC. SC doesn't talk about Crossbell very much but it talks about Erebonia a whole lot, which is about what I could say about Cold Steel 1 and Crossbell. Furthermore, the end of SC's eighth chapter basically leaves a huge opening for something happening in Erebonia, whereas the only other obvious cliffhangers are Renne and maybe Kevin.

The "Crossbell problem" comes up maybe twice offhand in SC and doesn't really have anything obvious to do with the circumstances where you hear about it (searching for Renne), but at least two very important characters (Olivier and Loewe) spend a lot of time talking about the problems in Erebonia.

I'm sure Cold Steel II will completely destroy this and make Ao mandatory reading, but for the time being, FC -> SC -> CS works better than it ought to.

I just finished CS and its ending IS a cliffhanger sure...but. it doesn't seem as cruel or painful as FCs to me. It certainly makes me want CS2 ASAP but it isn't going to make me lose my sanity while I wait... Maybe though that's just cuz I liked Estelle more than Rean

that's why I will wait at least 6 months after the japanese release of cold steel 3 to buy and play the erebonia arc

I agree Cold Steel with what you said but I would say that there conections to Ao even in Cold Steel 1. First its the conference they were doing at Crossbell, we know what happened there. Also what happened to "G" on which Scarlett say he died but we can only see what happened to the terrorist group if you played Ao no Kiseki. Cold Steel also never show you what happened to Galeria Fortress, neither CSII do you only see a big hole but playing Ao no kiseki and you know. Aside from that there are other key reference and talk. When they mention Red Costellation or Ario Mclain, etc.

It seems fans of CS are waiting for II thinking that it will answer those question but CSII never do, if anything it raise even more, teasing CSIII along the way.
