Bad writing

Im on chapter 1 still but what with that weird dialogue about the butt medicine and then dat ass comments at the infirmary.
Phrases like that make me cringe when I hear them. Was the dialogue like that on the japanese release or was it added by the localization team?

It was there, but the particular flair they have to them is specific to the English localization. This sort of thing is completely normal in localization, though; when simply translating something literally, a lot of the 'punch' and 'feel' is lost to the text even if literal intention is preserved. It's for this reason that translators basically 'punch up' the text to restore character and feel to it when they translate it. In short, though, yeah, it's just a translation; but it takes liberties in the presentation to make the text more interesting and less boring than a literal translation to keep it more in line with the enjoyment the original Japanese text contains, as 99% of translations anyone has ever played also do. It's just one of the more noticeable instances. Seiko is... quite the character.

The funny thing is that in my language there is a slang word for the phrase "My butt itches".
It means that with the things you do and your behavior you're inviting disaster! Poor Seiko....

Maybe it will make sense as I go through the game, but both scenes felt somewhat misplaced.

Ps. It was great receiving an answer from a dev, shows that care went into putting this game on steam. Which is great since I bought the game to support, because I've been wanting to play this game for ages but never had a psp back then nor own a 3ds now.
