Wow....
I don't know how you reached that conclusion.
It's more like the art could be interpreted as having someone looming over Naomi with intentions of sexual assault, especially by people who are not familiar with the game (which the person who made this thread doesn't seem to be). This suspicion only gets amplified by the fetish-y art of Ayumi being bound by a mass of flesh and eyes, which looks a lot more suggestive, and the general tendency of Japanese games to include fanservice.
That doesn't mean the art is inherently sexual, only that it could be interpreted that way.
Thanks for the info; It makes sense then, I guess it is just yet another form of "sex sells"; They really do try to shove it in whenever/wherever possible.
So when you say "Torture Porn" you mean gratuitous graphical depictions of extreme violence, right? Not rape(y) intercourse?
Oh and does the original version have CGs? What kind? Explicit horror ones, I imagine?
@nagakura_shikou
Dude, what? Come on...
It's not that she is scared or whatever (tho who knows, for some that may be a part of the fetish), it's that it's a typical anime schoolgirl (done in typical anime style) with (relatively) giant tits.
Like, looking at the actual gameplay and screenshots: What does it have to do with anything?
It's just promo art, as Aërendoodle, albeit out of place IMO...
EDIT: And, yeah, they just further explained what I meant.
It could be 10x more direct - Naomi's (as it were) body and proportions could be accentuated, her clothes could be more flattering, her pose could be more exposed/highlighted, the perspective more gratuitous... The touching carry more "implications"...
But, even as it is now, I don't see how you can argue that it isn't (at least mildly) sexual.
It's pretty blatant; I think anime/manga tropes may have dis-sensitized you...
Well, there's three versions currently available in English: the original 90s PC one that is free (it has a fan remake for modern systems, available in English here: http://www.memoriesoffear.com/games_corpsepartypc98/index.html), Corpse Party: Blood Covered (PC) and Corpse Party: Blood Covered... Repeated Fear (PSP/VITA/3DS), which are all roughly the same game with some differences in story and characters, though the 90s one has the most differences compared to the other two.
[li]The original 90s PC game has no CGs, only small character portraits and I don't remember it having much fanservice. [/li][li]Blood Covered (PC/Steam) is the version sold here and seems to not include CGs, though if the script is similar to the PSP release, it will have some suggestive dialogue (but no explicit sexual content). [/li][li]Blood Covered... Repeated Fear (PSP/VITA/3DS) has CGs and is similar to the Steam release, though it apparently lacks some of the extra chapters the PC version has. Not sure about the other differences. I only remember one CG that had a pantyshot and that's the most revealing can recall the CGs being.[/li]
And with torture porn I mean that the game is gory and has pretty detailed text descriptions of gore in it, not that there's sexual content.
The game actually points out that Naomi has a large chest at several points, mainly in chapter 1, though none of the other girls get such treatment. I'm not particularly fond of it myself, but if you can bite through Chapter 1, I think you'll be good.
I mean, just fairly typical stuff (as is them using it as promo art)... Anime content like that is what I refer to as "otaku-pandering trash". :P I hate it when it ruins otherwise interesting content.
Them being "aware of it" in-world - by pointing it out as you say - is also just an excuse; Whether you're being self-aware or not, it's still a design in your game at the end of the day.

@nagakura_shikou
Well, fine, whatever you say. I feel like the style/content/purpose of the art is quite clear, so, I just you just have a drastically different PoV.
It's hot

Well, this game is horror when it comes to atmosphere and story - there's no jumpscares, as far as I remember. The game is definitely not for the faint of heart. I've personally had more trouble with gore in the past than I do now, but I still don't find it pleasant in general... so I still would prefer to skip through certain cutscenes.
I agree about it not being very tasteful. It's one of the things I don't really like about the Corpse Party series.
If you're worried about the game having too much fanservice or sexual content, I suggest you try playing Corpse Party Rebuilt - the fan remake I linked earlier. It has way less fanservice (if at all) and has less gore, so depending on whether you like the general idea of the game after playing Rebuilt, you can always decide to try out the Steam version. They both play the same, but Rebuilt has less characters and is shorter in length. It's pretty possible that you'll end up liking it more than Blood Covered, though, due to it relying less on moe anime schoolgirl designs to appeal to potential players, though if you try Blood Covered and keep your play time under 2 hours, you can always get a refund.
Personally, I like both Rebuilt and Blood Covered, but each has their strong and weak points. Rebuilt is nicer for a more old school and to the point experience, while Blood Covered is more visual novel/anime-like with more hours of content (and more anime tropes). Picking which to play depends on what you're after.
Looks like a screen manipulation to me. Link me a video and I'll believe you.
I see, I can only imagine... Again, I hate things like that.
Funny, it does seem like we are on the same boat - just that our judgment of what is and isn't sexual (and thus likely what is and isn't "too much"/a problem) works a bit differently.
Uuuuuuuuuuuh? You guys were saying? xD
(Also that is personally too sprite-y/vague to be appealing to me)
See, I am definitely not a gore guy (like, there are movies that my friends find laughable and anything but scary, yet, that I find very disturbing and unappealing - mostly due to gore and scenes of torture).
Meanwhile, psychological horror, suspense... That also frightens me (which is the point, right) but isn't, well, disturbing and it allows me to get me interested.
What is and is not tasteful is obviously a thing of... Ta- Opinion; Something subjective.
However, that is how I feel about for a lot (not all) of anime/manga/Japanese Otaku Culture stuff and, sure, this is giving me those vibes.
(It wouldn't be the first time I had thoughts of "What is this tasteless shlock?" for new anime games on Steam...)
Again, thanks. I legitimately might try the free remake.
Definitely prefer less fluff and random (and to me, as I implied, unfitting and tastelessly tacked-on) anime (moe) content and tropes; As long as it is still a good story with satisfying horror elements, that is all that matters!
Speaking of Rebuilt. Ending C's epilogue was extended trying to make it relate to a fan game (rebuilt is a fan remake). The epilogue is the exact same as End B-3's epilogue.
