What happened to this game

I remember when this game first launched and it was AMAZING. Great laugh with friends and so much fun... Now its dead. Like actual dead. Nobody is playing. WTF. What happened to this game that it just died?

The developers (already a very small group) had one of their members leave. As far as I am aware this member was fairly key in the development and without him it gutted any hope for further additions. The game was fairly buggy and unpolished (though the concept and atmosphere was amazing) as well as relatively undiscovered, it is no surprise that the playerbase dried up.

That being said there is a small community still around that occationally play, as well as a freelance developer attempting to make additionas and improvments to the game (without the source code avalible for legal reasons, 9head has been fairly positive to the prospect of fan driven additions). There is also a community patch for the game you should get, it has been pinned in the Steam discussions page.

I personally would love if the community was more active playing this game, all the other asymmetrical horror games never came close to the atmosphere of Damned. Unlike say Dead by Daylight, you actually feel a mounting sense of dread in Damned.

If anyone in 9head is reading this, I just want to say this game was a bit of a diamond in the rough. If more bugfixing and polish was put into it then it might have really taken off. I hope the rumors of a sequel in the (very preliminary) works is true.

I loved this game, even with bugs and rough edges. It actually was the game that turned me onto the survivor versus hunter. Even if the game dies, I'll remember how I felt the first time I got the willies scared right out of me. Now I play dead by daylight, Giving "Loopers"( people who abuse game mechanics) a run for their money. I'm loving it and I would have not given it a try if I never said, what if it is like Damned.

I'm considering buying this game. Dead By Daylight is just not a horror game.

Dead by Daylight is okay, There are exploits and crybabies you will not satisfy.
They will spend 15 minutes straight exploiting the fact you can run "loops" between pallets and windows, But if you camp them, you're the bad guy because they will always win 4 v 1.
If your talking about damned, I gotta say I can't recommend it unfortunately. There is barely any player base last time I played, Atleast not enough to start a match.

Only play if you got 4 friends willing to play with you. then and only then is it fun. the game works really well with works and sort of meh with scandos
