Is this as good as Golden Sun?
Just bought this based of peoples reviews and waiting for it to download. In hope that it has a good story behind it and combat mechanics/progression that keep it interesting the whole way through.

Again, completely objective. They have two entirely different forms of JRPG gameplay, Golden Sun using a turn based classical styled fighting system which graphically took most of it's elements from Shining Force. While Trails uses a top down grid based system with a speed based turn system that bears a closer similarity to the Disgaea series.

Both have a heavy story focus, while Golden Sun is more straightforward and Trails revels in detail and intricacy. Neither are bad, but they're also very hard to compare or even claim to be close together. Their only real association is belonging to the same base genre of gameplay.

Heavy story focus on GS? It was some sort of a pre-snes era main plot, where you just go point to point as a excuse to enjoy the gameplay part.

That's your opinion and you're entitled to it.

Grandia's battle system has more options than Trails', but Trails' dialogues, plot, characters and lack of grinding made it the better game IMHO.
