Shining Pom Kill Guide
#1 What are they? their very rare monster's that will run from the fight, they are nearly impossible to hit, and take virtually no damage from any of your attacks and arts.

#2 So what's the point? They drop enormous amounts of sepith and give the highest possible amount of xp for that chapter, and they also drop unique items and quartz. And the turn's during the fight can proc 50% cp & 50% ep restore.

#3 Well then where are they? Well i wont spoil all their locations, but i will tell you how to re-find them if you let them escape.

#4 Method of FARMING THEM! When you find a group of them in the world, you can sprint away from them and avoid the encounter, wait for them to turn their back on you, then engage
for a preemptive strike.

#5 Method of KILLING THEM! The best way to kill them is to use all your characters maxed out 200 CP on them ASAP. However this is not the most effective way of farming them.

#6 BEST EFFECT:::

YOU WILL NEED 1 OF EACH OF THESE QUARTZ FOR EACH CHARACTER: ACTION 1, CAST 1, BLIND. EQUIP THESE ON A SINGLE LINE ON ALL AVAILABLE CHARACTERS. YOU NEED TO HAVE SHADOW SPEAR ON AS MANY CHARACTERS AS POSSIBLE.

For this example i will discolse the location of them in chapter one. They will appear on the 'WEST BOSE HIGHWAY', head to the exit to 'KRONE PASS', enter krone pass and then re-enter back onto the west bose highway. Now go search for them along the road, if you do not see them then they havnt spawned, and it's best to transition back to the krone pass and back again repeat as needed. Now when you do find them, retreat from them, but stay in the area.

Now this part is for any of their locations, have them present on your screen, save your game. Now engage them from behind with your party having as much access to SHADOW SPEAR. Target whichever enemy you like with shadow spear only, there's only a 20% chance that it will kill them, does not matter if you miss entirely on the first wave, sometimes they may choose to attack you or shine brightly, giving you the oppotunity to re-cast shadow spear again. If you kill one, claim your reward at the end of battle and save the game and continue farming them with this information. However if your shadow spear's miss or dont do any damage and they run away, just load up your save game, they'll be on the screen ready to be back attacked by you again, giving you an infinite # of oppotunitys to kill one or more of them, always re-load that save if you don't kill one, and always save after if you do kill one.

#7 Have fun farming that exp and sepith :)

Good guide. I'll also add that you can get a maximum of 70 Sepith per encounter (for whatever reason), so if you are farming for those and not XP, killing more isn't going to do much. The amount varies from region to region. I think the Rolent ones give only 20 Sepith each, and it goes up as your region changes. Shining Poms in the capital give out 70 Sepith each, so you only need to kill one per encounter to get the full amount.

There isn't much need to farm XP, but Sepith is a different story, as high-end Quartz becomes increasingly expensive, and on higher difficulties, you'll want Action 3 and Cast 2 quartz for everyone just to keep up with the increased enemy speed.

If you DO want to farm in the Zeiss region, you actually CAN spam S-crafts if you like after Tita fixed the pump for the hot springs. Taking a bath at Elmo instantly maxes out your entire party's CP gauge.
nice, i'll keep that one in mind Erpy, thanks. I just reached Ruan? the seaside town chapter 2 :)
The EXP from the act 3, TRATT PLAINS RD, is INSANE. I engaged from behind, and used shadow spear from joshua and had a deathblow 1 on estelle, she one shot one, and then we used 2x maxed CP moves to kill a second one in the same fight. Scored 258xp. Now i'm going to farm the hell out of them.

I think XP scales based on the level difference between you and the enemy. If you're underlevelled, you'll get more and catch up sooner. If you're overlevelled, you'll get 1 XP per enemy. Once you hit that point, it's time to stop, because it's not worth it.

For example, I carried over levels and stats into a nightmare playthrough, and now 66% of the way through the final chapter, Estelle and Joshua have gained exactly one level each in total from when they started.

I'd like to add to this, that this is possibly the most effective farming point in the game. I have not fixed the pump yet, it's n my list to do right now, but i also leveld joshua to 24 and unlocked his second s-craft, and with the current build i have him in, he has over 220 str. so he does 1200-1400 damage to all enemies with his s-craft, now i've been using several foods to restore his CP fast, and then farm, and even with the ingredient costs, i still make more mira from the sepith, and i always kill all 3 poms, the EXP is insane. I will probably be level 30 before i even finnish act 3. It's the best farm so far.

The exp drops quite rapidly above level 24-25. Also, if you can wait until Agate he will take out all the poms with a 200CP S-break with either 50+ str or critical (you can just escape and re-fight if required - the poms only need to be re-spawned if they flee) with his current equipment. It is faster to just increase his CP rather than trek back to Elmo each time.

Yeah i trecked back to elmo several times, but it was still worth it. Went from lv19 to 25 from farming them, got about 1500 of each sepith too, which also helps. Now i'm in last chapter, maxed out best possible orbments and wep/arm from all the stores, with heaps of mira on the side, i've been pretty thorough through the game, collecting everything. Now i got the poms outside the elga villa, now upto lv29 i think. trying to grab the 3k sepith achie, not that i really care, i beat the prolouge without killing poms :( so whatever.

You'll get heaps of sepith from the final dungeon if you're thorough :) I only made the 3k achievement in my NG+ i.e. SC-ready save haha
Wait is there a carry over for save data from this to the second chapter? Also i was unaware of a NG+, lol. what exactly is the point of NG+
Cid Jun 19, 2015 @ 12:14am
Yeah after you finish the game you can play through again and keep your status, items, recipes etc. you also unlock a 'hard' and 'nightmare' difficulty level which basically gives all enemies a stat boost.

You can carry a save file over to SC, which brings over Estelle's level and BP. From what I understand, there are minor item bonuses from certain BP levels as well as different text from people you helped in FC.

Nice guide but I think it would br better if you will add the shining pom loction for each chpter.

you need to kill all 3 , or just 1 is enough?

You get more XP for more kills no matter what, but Sepith is capped at 70, so there's little sepith gain from killing 3 instead of 2 in Bose, or 2 instead of 1 in Zeiss. There's no point killing more than one in Grancel.

Also worth mentioning is that once you reach Ruan, even a 200 CP S-Craft ceases to one-shot them. At that point, switch to casting Shadow Spear (at least in Ruan and Grancel).
Hypnodancer Feb 3, 2019 @ 3:15am
P.S.: For Shadow Spear needs Cast 2 quartz, not Cast 1 !!!!
