Help with the Evo voice patch

I tried to use the soravoice lite mod but I couldn't manage to make it work. I'd appreciate any help or guide on how to properly make it work.

Ignore Soravoice. I suggest to completely delete every modded file and/or reinstall the game, just to be sure everything is clean, and to follow a small tutorial I wrote on PC Gaming Wiki HERE [www.pcgamingwiki.com].

Basically, game patches broke the "simple version" of the mod, so you have to roll back the game updates to a previous version, to use a simple version copy/paste mod.

I think there is a SoraVoice (Lite) that works with newer versions of the game. You may also need to experiment with swapping between dsound and dinput8

I think there is a way to get the Japanese battle voices. If you have the Japanese sound files there will be an option to switch to Japanese in the options rather than English.

According to the tutorial i found on internet( i assume for the game older version) you can change battle voices with in-game option, but with the newest version right now i can only turn on/off battle voices which is ENG only.

For those who would struggle, here is what the folder is supposed to look like after extracting SoraVoice Lite AND the SoraVoiceScripts (= scena folder) for your game in case that helps :

(ogg files for the voices are put directly into the ogg folder / the ed_voice.ini is generated after the game has been launched)

Japanese Battle Voices need to be activated ingame as WAR said just before (you should be able to switch in the options).

I launch the directx 8 version of the game (in case that is required).
If you are using Proton (Linux/Mac), you need to use protontricks to go through winecfg and add dinput8 in "libraries" tab.

I still say that the method on PCGW is the fastest and easier to make everything work. The Soravoice method was needlessly complicated. You need to roll back to a previous patch, but
I wonder if devs fixed anything in the latest patches.
Probably, they only disabled the voice mod, due to copyrights, and things like that.
I'm 15 hrs into the game, with the 2018 patch+old voice mod, and I didn't face a single issue.

So i've finally solved the problem.

That the most popular tutorial on the internet for Soravoice fail to mention 2 files: E6_DT1A.dat and E6_DT1A.dir( you can get them from the link on PC Gaming Wiki that SiegfriedM post above) which you copy to your game main folder so you can change Battle voices to ENG/JP/off as you want with in-game option. Now i can enjoy the game with full JP dub.

I've followed your guide that you posted on pcgamingwiki regarding adding Japanese audio to the game including what you posted here regarding doing a clean install, but I only get JPN voices during battles, I get no voices whatsoever during dialogs. What am I doing wrong?

There is a new English voice patch for the First Chapter that got released last Friday...its really good...just Google "Trails in the Dub".

So you speak Japanese then? Wait are you just looking for the battle voices? The Voice mod I'm talking about is for the entire game minus some minor characters.

Never mind, that guy's guide wasn't any good. Found a site that provided the voice files and I followed Soravoice's guide and it worked.

I followed a steam guide.

I was getting crashed at first but I figured out that was due to me loading a manual save I made. Loaded an autosave and it worked perfectly.
