Need some clarification on NG+ and carry over to SC.
Ok, so I just found out that the information orb gets detailed stats on monsters and I have missed the opportunity to get the stats on some one time fights. I also read that I can just get all the stats on a NG+.

Now, I know there is a CLEAR file once you beat the game that you don't want to save over. Do you get another clear file for NG+ that can carry over or do you have to use the clear file for first playthrough?

Also, I read all the stuff you can carry over for NG+ and i was wondering, for a perfect file, should I pick all the options, none, or just some?

Thanks for the help!

Just keep doing New Game+ runs with your original playthrough until you've collected everything you wanted. It's up to you whether you want to use all or some of the carryovers for it, all it'll really do is speed up the runs a bit. I suggest doing a game and focus on finishing the monster book up. Then do another run to get a perfect game for when SC comes out since you can't do both in one run.

You will get another clear file when you finish your NG+ (essentially a NG++)

Apparently all that carries over to SC is level (up to a max of 40) and BP (you get some items early in the game depending on if you had max BP or ranks 1-3). Also, some NPC text will change based on things you did for them in FC

Note: I've heard the items are nice, but nothing special and you'll catch up in levels pretty quick - so it shouldn't really detract from experiencing SC

Also I should note that it is actually impossible to get both a full monster book AND max BP on the same run.
The tutorial sewer battles actually have special versions of the enemies that can't be re-encountered, I think. So you at least have to go back and fight those.

Ok, so I know I can't get the full monster book on my first run so I'm going to go for full BP. But, on my new game plus I will go for full monster book but that will prevent me from getting full BP right? So i would have to play it for a 3rd time just to get the BP again?

Nah, just use your first clear save for the transfer to SC

Wait, getting full monster book precludes getting full BP?

Yes, there are two enemies that are only encountered if you screw up a particular stealth section in Chapter 3. Not messing up that section once is necessary for perfect BP.

Speaking of NG+ and stuff that carries over to SC. in my second playthrough I'm purposedly avoiding to talk to every NPC every time something happens (whereas in my first I'd even go back to far away checkpoints after every minor event just to see new dialogue from random soldiers and bartenders). My question is: are NPCs like those among the ones that change their dialogues in SC based on whether you interacted with them during FC or do only those involved in bracer missions and other side quests get influenced in SC by your FC save file?
Cid Aug 27, 2015 @ 12:59am
Not 100% sure but I'd imagine that it only checks for which Bracer quests were completed

That would make sense indeed. Oh well, in the worst case I might as well go for a third playthrough and talk with everyone many times again XD

I have some questions as well: how does the NG+ BP work? I know I've missed some from screwing up or missing quests (that stupid escort quest in Bose that came out of nowhere!)

Anyway, does the BP counter reset to zero or is it more of a "make up the difference" dynamic where you only get the points you missed?
For example, if quest A has a base reward of 4 BP with 4 more that are missable and I got all but one of those points, will my BP total only go up by one?

Another ancillary question that comes out of that (assuming it isn't reset to zero): if I got the max amount on the first playthrough, does that mean that I can just not worry about being perfect on NG+ for that particular quest? Sorry if that's confusing.

Thanks!

No, you have a fresh new BP counter for each one of your playthrough, be it NG or NG+. And you only get the bonus points if you do the bonus tasks. So if you want a perfect Bracer score, you need to do a whole perfect playthrough, whithout missing a single quest or optional task, and always selecting the correct option in dialogues.

Cool. Thanks a bunch.
