Won't open

Game wont open at all. If I select the second option on launch (which is empty) I am given a settings dialog, where I can't select my graphics card. Is there a fix for this?

Nevermind, I'm just gonna get a refund for my copy and the gift copy I bought.

no no no
go to the root folder, run the Config.exe ONCE.
then the game will start. and from now on will start normaly from the regular exe

Tried that. Also tried deleting the config file and generating a new one. I've already filed for refunds, but thanks for your help anyway.

strange , it worked for me.
try verifying the game files then run config.exe once and then start the game from the regular desk top shortcut.
i have win 10

I am very concerned for the developers, this message should definitely be pinned or this "issue" addressed, not a lot of people have patience to try and figure out how to make a game work and might just go for refund immediately. Please fix this guys or address it properly! It's such a great game, it should not lose followers because of such a small yet important problem. ~ xoxo

yeah, this definitely should be pinned. or something. glad i found this on first page. got mine as a gift, so would have felt terrible if it didn't run.

mine would not open at all until i changed the Resolution Size in the Config. My screen is a 42" set for 1920x1080. once i did that i have not had a problem since!

(I know the OP is from a while back but hopefully this will help anyone having the same issue in the future)

I had the same issue- it's because the DirectX 9 version of the game for some reason isn't working. The default shortcut Steam creates on your desktop is for the DX9 version, which doesn't work for everyone. If so, use the DX8 versions, this worked for me.

The game has launcher EXE files and two Config menu EXE files, one for DX8 and one for DX9:
Settings: Config.exe / Config_DX9.EXE
Launcher: ed6_win.exe / ed6_win_DX9.exe

The ones without "DX9" in the name are the DX8 versions.

Default Windows 10 path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Trails in the Sky FC
Alt path (in case you don't download your games in default location): Steam->right click on game in your library->Manage->Browse Local Files

First, open the config.exe file and set the settings how you want. Then launch the game using the ed6_win.exe file. (Don't forget to create a shortcut to the launcher file and place that shortcut on your desktop.)

got mine working had to launch config and tweak resolution into window mode
