There are some very hard to find secrets, though, where you have to talk to certain NPCs at specific times. The rewards matter very little, though, so I wouldn't bother without a guide if I were you.
The only thing that kinda matter is max Bracer Points, as it does change a few things in Second Chapter. But again, without a guide, kinda hard to achieve.
The "Perfect Achievement" guide here on Steam is quite safe to use, just don't check too ahead and you're good.
If you're going for achievement completion you will need a guide. Trust me when I say you will never figure out some of the Carnelia chapters on your own, because they sometimes involve taking a break between two consecutive plot conversations to hike clear across the province and talk to a random dude. Or that a chest in Mistwald locks if you don't go into the dungeon several levels early to pick it up before the boss spawns there.
If you don't care about achievement completion, don't bother. As ^ said, the rewards are actually not all that great, and I didn't go out of my way to do much of it on my Nightmare run. Even max bracer points only gives you a very temporary advantage in SC.
