start it in direct from the the steam folder, it helps everytime my game wont start.
it should be one of the following, depending on you system.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Trails in the Sky FC
C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\Trails in the Sky FC

I experienced this problem and found this thread.

OP doesn't say how he got the game to work. I figured out a solution:

1. Run the Config.exe file from the Steam Library, or directly from:
"...\Steam\SteamApps\common\Trails in the Sky FC".
2. Launch the game from the config program.

Hope it helps someone else, or the issue gets fixed.

Spaceball's solution works for Trails in the Sky the 3rd as well.

More specifically, I ran Config3.exe as administrator directly from the game's folder (found under "...\Steam\SteamApps\common\...")

well running the config directly from the home folder worked, but i also had to disconnect my logitech controller. I also have a steam controller but whether it was on or off did not seem to make a difference, the game refused to work with it.

I just had this issue today after installing the game on my Windows 10 and Spaceballs solution did the trick.

Thanks a lot for sharing it. I was about to consider asking for a refund.
