I think Joshua is voiced by JYB...
Johnny Yong Bosh is totally Ichigo Kurosaki's voice to me, so it seems quite unfitting for his "voice full of angst and heaviness" that he is known for (especially when he says "Not done yet!", so much angst!), to be used on a character with a cool personality like Joshua...

seriously...

I will never understand how anybody can prefer a dub over a sub

Nearly every dub I've ever heard was absolutely horrible.. especially women's voices

Masakazu Morita does a fantastic job as Ichigo Kurosaki in japanese

here is a comparison http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VhogD31qN4I

I prefer English dub and what's wrong with that?
Dub over sub any day for me.
Those high pitched japanese female voices make my ears bleed.

English dub sounds good in it's own right. I personally like the westernize feel more over the original.

There are more of them then there are of you. Otherwise dubs wouldn't exist at all.

It's funny you think that is the reason why dubs exist.

It's funny how you just pretend things don't exist because they don't fit your worldview.

Whether sub watchers like it or not, there's definitely a large group of people who will only play/watch stuff dubbed into their own language. Heck, like I said in another topic, over in Japan EVERYTHING has to be dubbed into Japanese. Even over there the purists are a tiny insignificant minority compared to the people who want it in their own language. BTW, Japanese dubs of western media are hilariously bad.

Sure, you can make the argument about it being cheaper for video games (or the situations like Trails where the Japanese voices are unavailable,) but then why do so many animes have a dub option when, if the assertions of the sub watchers were true, it's just wasted money? It's not for TV broadcast since anime doesn't really get on Western TV anymore unless it's very kid friendly.

Oh, and WHY does even more adult/teen oriented anime get dubbed on TV anyways if the only people who watch it are sub purists? Simple fact: sub purists are not the majority. Just a very loud minority group that thinks it's far bigger than it really is due to being more active online than the dub watchers who usually get what they want.

American Dubs of eastern media are often hilariously bad.

Listening to a dub is like listening to a cover band perform a song instead of the original artist.

Some people prefer covers over originals.

Do what you like.. Who cares if the American market version is heavily edited, missing content, and carries different meaning

Some people probably have trouble reading subtitles. DId you know most people in the world don't know how to swim?

If you have no respect for the product as an art then its just consumable and disposable.

I find it to be humerous when I listen to a sub and then play the dub... it often sounds like the dub is made for a younger audience.

Its a total waste of an argument I suppose. Its like talking about politics or religion. Not one person is going to change their mind. So I suppose it is a futile effort.

He who argues with a fool, becomes a fool.

Have you ever seen an American movie dubbed in spanish? "hilariously bad" comes to mind

anyway unsubscribed.. c-ya

Dude there is nothing wrong with preferring english dub over the original language!
Why you hating so much? Weeaboo much?

I enjoy watching shows without having to be reading subtitles through the whole thing. The Japanese audience watch their shows without subtitles, and I want to do the same but in my own prefered language. I'm a fan of a lot of those voice actors and actress which is another reason why I like English dub.

If I'm going to read then I might as well read the manga instead. No, better yet I'll do one better and read a novel a instead because I don't need pictures to understand what's happening in the story.

Fan subs are sometimes kinda hard to read bases on duration and font that is used (also have fun becoming cross eyed or having to pause everything subs appear not just in the bottom, but also the subtitles that may appear on the top of video at the same time too).

To each our own. Let people enjoy games/anime in the language they personally enjoy the most. They all sound good in their own right. I'm not going to change my mind just because you tell me it's "bad". You can't tell me what to like and what not to like. If you enjoy eng subs then enjoy it, but just stop being a hater/jerk about it. People like you who think you're so much better and when you don't like something then you're on a mission to put down anyone who does enjoy it. That just makes me sick... the only thing that is "hilariously bad" is your trolling.

And this is exactly what was wrong with the previous JP language posts. This is a warning, if people get out of line again, I will lock this post. Like the others. Since this happens in EVERY SINGLE POST like it, I have little patience and tolerance for people being jerks to each other in these. Okay?

at this rate, i might just start locking sub/dub posts like this quite a bit.

that may be a joke. possibly.
Uh-oh...heeeeere we go again...

I think that the English dubs of yesteryear -- like the 80s and 90s -- might not be all that good. But the English dub industry (at least in the United States) is slowly getting better, and there have been some great dubs in the past decade.

This applies to anime. I dunno much about dubbing in games.

That said, that doesn't absolve the original Japanese voices of anything. They're not necessarily all that great either. Not to mention that some of us just don't like squeaky high-pitched girl voices.

By the way, where do I fit in? I just don't really like any voices at all. How about me?

edit: ninja'd by Feena and Reah Mini Eidos again...haha

I figured I heard Johnny's voice, he could only do like 1 voice lol and he's in everything so it's gotta be him :3

Actually scratch that, Johnny could do maybe like 2 voices like he did with Yu and Adachi (but Yu rarely talks in Persona 4 so...) but it's mainly the Ichigo voice though :3

Actually, most VAs have a range. The thing is: they're hired to do a specific voice. It happens in Japan all the time too.

Steven Blum for one has an impressive range, going from his typical Spike voice to child voices. He just mostly gets hired for that signature Spike voice.
