Amberl tower
I am in Bose, went to Haken Gate and came back, did all sidequests available at this point too and apparently there is a conversation about the tower itself that need to be heard, however even if I was careful with a walkthrough to not miss anything, the Amberl tower sidequest does not activate. What should I do, did I missed something important and should I simply start over? It’s infuriating to find no answer anywhere about that except videos of the tower itself.

The quest is short-term, meaning it expires one "story cutscene" after becoming available. You'd have to reload a save toward the start of Chapter 2 to do it. Then enter Amberl Tower to trigger dialogue that adds the quest to your notebook.

It's horribly obnoxious but the only quest of its kind. Everything else comes from the bracer board or from NPCs in known locations.

Bose is just plain obnoxious with the hidden and semi-hidden quests.

There's the Amberl tower which has to be done after Haken Gate, before advancing the main quest another step.

About that time there's another quest which appears on the bulletin board - but only for a very short time before it expires.

Then almost at the end of the chapter is an object in the final dungeon that you need to interact with, even though you pretty much never need to interact with clutter objects. If you don't do that you can't complete a quest at the start of the next chapter.

I forgot about the dungeon item. That also breaks the mold in an annoying way.

And this is in addition to all the esoteric conditions for max BP. Like sneaking up on the crop munchers in Rolent or not attacking a certain enemy later in the game.

So I simply need to talk to Nial to progress the main story further so I can actually traverse Haken Gate instead of just going there. Also seem I might need to make a second save file to be sure I don’t mess up.

If you're playing blind and don't want to miss things, yes, multiple save files is recommended.

I use a walkthrough but everything about Amberl tower is extremely vague
