Also to give him a third status effect so you can't guard from everything he throws at you without Grail Locket.
Like for example, he uses some "Demon" skills in Sky FC, yet none of the Trails games explain when & how he became a demon and/or became possessed by demon, which he obviously must have been to use "Demon" skills.
Yet if he did become a demon and/or become possessed by one, then the story would have mentioned it, which it never does.
So it seems skill names and usage amounts are just random nonsense in these games.
1: He is using an advanced orbment. And we get a line about this in the second game.
2: His orbment might be silver based. For example Joshua is black, Oliver is silver, Schera is wind, Zin is Earth, Kloe is water.
These elements do tell something about everyone's character. Estelle has no element, meaning she is a balanced fighter AND her personality can go either way.
Joshua is time, chained by it, and his skills are a bit more covert based.
Zin is immovable, thus he is earth.
Agate is burning rage, thus fire.
Kloe is like the water, usually dormant and calm but when a typhon happens (her inner strugles) it can be hard to contain. I don't mean like she is a psycho, no I mean like her problems are causing her pain that she is usually holding back and don't show to people around her, just like the calm waters.
Orbments tell a lot about the characters; their personality, fighting styles etc etc... Now Loewe is the silver color meaning the mind. I won't go into more about it as that would spoil things but yeah. If an orbment has 3 or more lines than the character is probably a physical fighter and not an art user. If it has 2 lines, than they can probably get use out of both depending on the players choice. If it is a single line, then you might wanna have an art based built. Don't get me wrong a mage can have really useful crafts too (for example Kloe can reduce the defence and offence of enemies with one of her crafts) but generally you use them for arts if not for anything just because how much EP they have (single lines have the most amount of EP)
Later in the series we meet with a character who has a single line AND no elements which ties into her character and how much potential she has as she can become whatever she desires (no I don't mean like a shape shifter but in terms of potential paths). However no element, in her case also has a negative side.
This series, especially the first trilogy, is filled with small details. And this is not me reading into it, I can give dialogue examples for pretty much everything here but that would spoil a lot. It's all about how attentive you are. Do you go out of your way to talk to the NPCs, pay attention to the dialogue or hell even the S-Craft portraits. Did you go and read that gravestone with the names? did you read a a book in the game? did you talk to certain NPCs at certain times? Trails gives you more the more you work for it. The base main story is enough to understand what's going on but for those who are like me, it has a lot of treats. I am still finding new stuff even to this day and I marathon the series twice a year. Hell during the summer I played FC for the first time it was the only localized game in the series and I ended up playing it 5 times back to back. I have played these games so many times that I actually made my own guides for them. It's basically a notebook, all of the collectibles, quests with EXTRA BP, hidden quests, recipe locations, Anton locations (you will get it in the second game) etc etc... I haven't made a guide for the CS games only as I am not a big fan of those for certain reasons that I won't go into here.
