Should I play the directx8 version?

Sorry but I'm a real noob when it comes to this stuff, how do I determine whether I should play the directx8 vesion? the other choice is 'play'

I had zero crashes with direct 8 version, but with dx9 every 40min - 1 crash or more. Choose dx8 if you want beat game without frustration.

Only choose the DirectX 8 version if your game is crashing, such as for the opening video.
