Generally, all characters benefit from Action 1/2/3 Quartz.

It's best to build the setup around what the character is actually good at.

Estelle is an above-average physical attacker and an okay caster, but she isn't the best at either role. She's highly flexible and can fill the role of a caster, but she has much lower max EP and is less effective at casting than physical damage dealing.

Joshua is a bit of a glass cannon. He has two Time slots, so Action X and Cast X or Blind are good. He's faster, but can take less punishment than Estelle. His orbment has a longer line than Estelle, although the two time locks restrict what he can learn somewhat.

Schera is a below-average physical attacker and an okay-good caster. She should be focused on casting more than attacking. She has two Wind locks, so she should at least learn Aerial.

Olivier is the best caster in the game. He has one solid line and his center slot is locked to Mirage, so give him EP X. He should only be attacking physically if enemies are nearly dead. The rest depends on what spells you want to give him.

Kloe is the second-best caster in the game. One solid line, but three water locks, so she's a healer primarily, although Blue Impact is a solid water damage skill. HP X, Mind X, Heal.

Agate is a physical attacker, the highest damage dealer. Give him your best Attack, and Strike or Seal as his other fire locks. With three lines, he won't be casting much, so give him quartz to boost his stats mostly.

Tita is an odd duck. She does low damage, but in an AoE, and her two Space locks and three lines limit her magic power. She's also very frail, so Defense and HP should be part of her gear. The Space-type Range quartz is tremendously helpful as it boosts the radius of her orbal cannons attacks.

Zane is a tank. He won't be casting much with his 4 lines. Give him Defense and Petrify, and the rest should boost his stats.

Also, most high level attack magic is counterproductive. Higher level spells get a constant amount of extra damage (meaning it does not scale with stats at all), but takes longer to cast. This means your DPS goes down, because the extra damage is more than offset by your much higher stat-based damage being diluted over more ticks. Yet the MP to cast them goes way up.

The big exception is AoE magic. Aerial, in particular, is low enough level to be fairly cheap, has a huge AoE, and isn't super slow.

The Range quartz has no effect at all on any of Tita's orbal cannon attacks and is therefore no more useful on her than any other character. In fact since she already has AOE physical attacks and doesn't make a very good mage, I would specifically recommend NOT using the range quartz on Tita.

Shadow Spear and White Gehenma are good for everyone. They not only help with grinding, but are elemental neutral to basically everything. Anyone can figure out a combination that works for them with these by the end.

Action 3
Cast 2
EP Cut 3
