While I see any attempts to translate this ginormous game script as something that freaks me out because of its size, I applaud you for sharing these nice and easy to use tools with all those who are brave enough to give it a try.

Speaking of, do the tools allow for customizable font size and color on specific words? Because I remember some words being of a different color or bigger within the text.

Is it normal that my Antovirus Escalate when unpacking this? XD
Yes, you can modify the size and the color of a text. You can even change the avatar of a dialog box.

After using the tools, you get CSV files (editable with Excel).
Let's use R0201_1.csv as an example.

CHANGE FONT SIZE : There is a code you can add in front of each text. The code is #xS where x is a number from 1 to 5. (the values 4 and above are actually the same font size)
#1S is whispering : http://img4.hostingpics.net/pics/237719fontsize1.jpg
#2S is normal voice : http://img4.hostingpics.net/pics/548110fontsize2.jpg
#3S is big voice : http://img4.hostingpics.net/pics/991385fontsize3.jpg
#4S is screaming : http://img4.hostingpics.net/pics/642032fontsize4.jpg

CHANGE FONT COLOR : I still didn't understand very well how it works. I need to take a deeper look at it, but it's definetely possible : http://img4.hostingpics.net/pics/850856fontcolor.jpg
I think it's just adding some codes before and after the text you want to display in color.

CHANGE AVATAR : Another code to modify in front of the text line : from #000 to #911. Each code corresponds to an avatar.
Here is a list : http://img4.hostingpics.net/pics/673229avatarcodelist.jpg
Estelle normal face is #000, Olivier blushing is #037,...

Amazing! Thanks for the detailed explanation, those tools look really handy to use after reading your guide.

Did you edit the font to add "é" character?
Sorry for late answer.
Yes, the font was edited to add some characters. (font is in ED6_DT00.dat)
Tools used for editing : CrystalTile2
It wasn't my work so I'm sorry I can't help you more but I'll ask my friend a tutorial.

Thanks for your reply.
Excuse me for your time, i was noticing that in the ED6_DT01 file there are all strings that are spoken in the game... still i wasn't able to find items descriptions or location/charaters' names. Have you found out something about these?
Hello Toretllino5, are you preparing a translation ? I can give you some advices if you want.
Maybe you can also help me because I am encountering some problems too.

Anyway, you are right. ED6_DT01 file is an archive which contains only the scenario files.
You can find the items, magic, quartz, location/charaters' names in ED6_DT02 archive.

Does it let you change the font size in the middle of one dialogue line? I remember in SC they did that a few times.
Good question, I tried it and yes it's possible. The tools allow you change the font size in the middle of one dialogue line.

Thx for the reply, i'd like to make an italian localization, but the game's huge and it is a heavy amount of work... so it'll probably take more than a year if i only use my free time. Still i want to give it a try, so i'll stay tuned ;)

If you are looking for more people for the localization I'd gladly lend a hand :) I can't promise a steady pace but I'd do my best anyway.

My main concern with it though would be translating some "technical terms" like orbment (I think the Japanese version uses the same word, but should the adjective 'orbal' be translated into 'orbale'?) and bracers (just like the original Japanese word Yugekishi it refers to a protective or supporting gauntlet/armcover, but I feel like none of the Italian equivalents would feel as catchy or cool ^^' Gilda del guanto/bracciale? Guanti/bracciali? Apprendisti guanti/bracciali? Maybe keeping it in English, like Gilda dei bracer, would be the best solution, I don't know).

For sure, if i'm gonna try this project, having more ppl in it would be really great. But still i don't know if i will be able to start, since my main goal now is to finish my studies at university.
Still, i can use some of my free time, starting from september october, but i won't be so focused.
Feel free to add me just in case; anyway, my real fear, more than specific terms like items, arts, crafts (how the hell would u translate craft?! xD), is how to resolve technical issues, such as speech length or ingame crashes. I'm not so good in this, but i'd really like to give a hand in making such a translation.
For now, working at it is just a nice idea, we'll see...

Fortunately craft is easier :steamhappy: Abilità! (I know most games use that word for "skills", but since we have no "Skill" in Trails combat menu there are no risks here, hehe) Also, "Arts" sounds decent in Italian as well: Arti! (As in, arti magiche, arti curative etc.)

So S-Craft could be translated as S-Abilità (a.k.a. super abilità) - I know, this one doesn't sound as good as S-Craft but it's still passable in my opinion.

As for S-Break, things might be a little more complicated... Knowing what S-Breaks do (they "break" the normal flow of battle by allowing a character to use their S-Craft even before their turn is up), the most logical translation would be S-Rottura or S-Interruzione, but they sound so cringeworthy XD Perhaps S-Frattura...? Bah :steamsad:

Anyway, we can think about it even in a few months from now if you have more time and are still willing to start this translation. And we can always ask foubou and the others here whenever we run into technical issues like sentences filling too much space in their dialogue boxes or game crashes. :)
