Techie was nerfed? Why?
I can understand nerfing his skill regen but his range? If you've specced him out as a sniper hes now useless. Any enemy with half a brain can reach him with ease. Not only that but thanks to the skill regen nerf he'll only be able to use it "after 1 turn" (which translates into every 2 turns for some reason) and thats if you put everything into skill regen.
Personally I've just thrown away his rifle and given him a legendary sword instead. Hes gone from being a lethal and effective killer to "just another dude with a sword". That cost the last of my money to make by the way. I really hope I get more at the start of new game plus season 1 or I won't be able to upgrade my studio.

Its true there was no point for the nerfing the Techie recieved.

There was certainly no reason to decrease the range of his rifle.

Can't say why the Rifles had their range nerfed, but I do know one thing; this has something to do with why the Techie got nerfed.

JSlayerXero pretty much summed it up. The Techie is way too strong at his current state or he was before the nerf. Tbh I find decreasing his rifle range from 7 to 5 is a tad too much I'd be cool with 7 to 6. It's just one tile nerf but two seems a bit too much.

So far even with the nerf my techie is as useful as before tbh and I'd never would give him a melee range weapon.

I think the range should stick to 7.

In theory... it might have something to do with how buffs stack. Buff stacking is multiplicative. In other words, if you have two +50% buffs, you don't end up at 200% but at 225%, as the second one see your power at 150% and multiplies that by 150% to make it 225%. Perhaps the issue is that each tile counts as an individual buff of 8%. If I'm wrong then I have no idea, but it's my theory as to why that happened. I don't really know, though.
Something I think about it would also be that the longer the range the more likely the Techie is to be off on their own. Personally I don't see Chroma Squad as that kind of game. It's about the Teamwork abilities and all that that depend on your team being pretty close to teach other. Making you keep your Techie a little closer to the action keeps that going.

Isn't really true to the spirit of a martial arts show to have one guy shooting all the time, sniping far away from the action.

Well you say martial arts show yet the enemie has those pesky lil birds that just keep on shooting you and throwing bombs in your face.
Tho I do get what you mean.

I'm still on the side of JSlayerXero.

It would be good tho to actually have the Devs tell us why they nerf something even so we aren't so dumb struck.

Do enemies with pistols shoot farther than the technie with a pistol now?

I stuck with pistols my first playthrough because I belived the skill description saying multishot needed a pistol, silly me. So I guess when it comes to rifles I'll be lucky enough to not notice a difference.

Are you implying multishot works wtih a sword?

My head canon is that Techie is simply using the power of 'imaginaaation' to reform his weapons on the fly.
Sabin Stargem May 10, 2015 @ 11:18am
The techie warps space and time, so that his sword can be at multiple points in the past, present, and future. Every else mistakes this as the use of a gun, when various folks are suddenly riddled with holes.

...Or it could be just a wild imagination. :p

Techie was WAY too powerful. He made every difficulty way too easy. Even the roided out Biker Assault was a puny ant compared to Season 5 Techie. The range might've been a bit overkill, but every other nerf was absolutely needed so that Challenging wouldn't be just as easy with Casual (albeit with a little more cheesing).
