Challenging Mode Strategy Help
I beat the game on both Casual and Interesting, but I'm having a lot of trouble with the second Transitmancer fight in the Season 1 Finale. I keep losing a team member when he gets to about half his HP. Does anyone have a good strategy to beat him with on Challenging difficulty?

Buy good items. If you don't have money to equip all the rangers equip the ones that are weaker. Also don't go for bonus objectives.

Other than that obvious stuff, use the Assist ranger's ability a lot (heals nearby rangers when Teamwork is used).

If a ranger is dying and you are "out of Healdoukens", you can just put him far from the battle and let him rest some turns until you can heal him.

The biggest thing to stress is what Dalmnolk said: Do NOT worry about Director's Instructions. Obviously do them if you can but if you keep failing because of them, ignore them. You can still get max audience without following them and beyond the feat which you easily could have got playing Casual difficulty, there is no real reason to follow them besides maxing your audience which you can do in other ways (use a lot of skills, team attacks and team maneuvers, especially in the easier fights) but even then I wouldn't say don't worry TOO much about max audience, but you still want to get at least 70% so you get money to upgrade and such. I just did this battle on Challenging last night and two of my rangers died but I managed to pull victory from the jaws of defeat AND still get max audience.

Thanks for the feedback. Dalmnolk, I try to isolate my low health characters, but Transitmancer likes to use his Green Light and warp to them. It's also a pain that he summons the gunner minions.

Also, enemies are more likely (at least from what I've tested) to atack the ranger who last hit him. Another reason to isolate weak rangers and put the stronger ones between them and the mobs.

Wait until hard mech fights, the worst part of the game... RNG based..... You may fail a lot.....
We buy strategy games to beat hard battles by improving our abilities more and more with training and testing..... Not depending on a random factor which can defeat even the smartest player in the game... This is not even a card game..........

At least the devs are aware that people really dislike the mech battles. I for one can't stand that the kaiju always attacks three times without fail. It feels so disjointed going from tactics to chance and click timing.

You are right, they can also counter-atack (kinda).
Just like that plant monster which does "3000 Damage if MISS".

I can imagine someone in a later mech battle, failing every time, and not having money/materials to make new mech gear... May result in a season fail? By reaching a super low number of fans. I don't know what happens if you fail a season... But all the outcomes I can think are really bad, like reseting the season or even the whole game...
