Maybe I am misinterpreting what you said, but you need the keys found in the cave, at the end of the dead end path. If these don't work, make sure to pick up all the keys from the forest guard hut.

The key to the room with the dead body is in the cave (look for a side passage) -- the keys from the forest guard hut is for Hartman's stash.
