Any other games like INFRA?
While we wait for the Whiprock DLC, are there any other games even remotely similar to INFRA? I know there's tons and tons of first-person walking sim/adventures on the market, but have you played any like INFRA, that make such convincing urban and industrial environments, with such immersive atmosphere and attention to detail?

I doubt I'll ever find one that tops INFRA for me personally, but I'd still like to try other ones if there's anything in a similar vein.

Oh, I can definitely second Black Mesa, not for similarities to INFRA, but because it is just a dang good remake of HL1, especially the Xen portion. I was never a fan of it in the original, but in Black Mesa... just... wow.

The first half of the Blue Shift mod actually reminded me quite a bit of Infra. Very quiet and atmospheric, definitely worth a download!

Im in the mood to replay INFRA all over again :) - maybe i'll find something new for me
You will definitely find new stuff. There's too much in the game to notice in only one or two playthroughs :)

My favorite one so far is when I 'cheated' and reached a high place where you're not supposed to be able to go. The writing on the wall there gave me immense satisfaction for some reason lol

This here game obviously has major INFRA influences. I highly recommend it for fans of INFRA.

I know of Stardrop, played the demo for it. Watched some gameplay and I might get it at some point since I like sci-fi games and I don't think I've actually played a 1st-person sci-fi adventure. (Closest is probably Alien Isolation, but that's quite different being a horror title with combat 'n stuff) I think I was gonna get it, but checked on the length and decided against getting it full price since it seemed very short? A walkthrough on YT finished it in about 5 hours...but then again someone also did INFRA in less than 5 hours and my first run took like 30-40 hours cuz I took my time haha, so maybe I shouldn't judge on that.

Painscreek Killings looks very interesting, and I like detective/murder mystery games. I'll definitely consider getting that at some point.

Thanks for the suggestions! Also, are there any INFRA mods out there? It seems someone (who worked on INFRA, I think?) was making some mods, but it's either on hiatus or proceeding slowly...

EDIT: Here's what I'm talking about. https://stalburg.net/Category:Remnants_of_the_Old_World
you probbaly allready have heard of this but there is a new mod called infra underground

This thread feels like home.
I just finished INFRA Underground mod, it was pretty good and close to the base game in terms of the feel.
I just remembered a HL2 mod Research and Development, it is a brilliant puzzle centric mod set in HL2 universe. There are enemies and indirect combat, but it is done through puzzles - you will have to outwit everyone. https://www.moddb.com/mods/research-and-development

For some reason no one mentioned the Open Sewer game from the INFRA devs, it is a different kind of game and is currently in a very raw state, but it has the signature feel to it (slums, glowing mushrooms, it is also set in the same universe as INFRA). Dev have posted several new screenshots over the last few years where graphics moves from crude and pixelated to the INFRA level of fidelity. As I understand it's a bum simulator set in something like INFRA's Turnip Hill. I wish the game gets that update they were teasing.

These probably don't meet your requirements super specifically, but they gave me very similar vibes to what I'm feeling as I currently go through INFRA for the first time:

Gorgeous game with amazing moody music, lots of old decayed infrastructure and surprising sights. Not really a puzzler or very narrative-driven, the writing is a lot of angsty half-baked philosophy which I didn't care for, but the vibes are absolutely immaculate. I fire this game up often just to walk through the environments and soak in the atmosphere.

This one's maybe a bit of a harder sell cause the graphics are wildly minimal, there's survival elements, and it's mostly nature-based environments, but the narrative about how the post-apocalyptic environment came to be is super robust and engrossing. It's very slow-paced and the graphics tax your imagination more heavily in order to fill in the blanks but it does come together as something quite special. I never finished it but I do think very fondly of the time I spent in it.

If you have Portal 2 in your library this is a great game

I'm surprised nobody seems to have brought up Condemned: Criminal Origins. The vast majority of the game takes place in various industrial/disused urban areas (an abandoned office building, department store and school, subway tunnels etc.) and you even need to search for evidence and take photos from time to time. It is a horror game, though, and there is proper action too, primarily in the form of melee combat. But I can't think of any game more similar to Infra.

I think it's the combat element that really makes this a whole different thing than games like INFRA. Many people who are into puzzle-adventure-story rich games despise combat and avoid it like the devil.

Condemned is an average and repetitive combat game comparing to INFRA, far not similar i think.

I've played both Condemned 1 and 2, and neither one of them are really anything like INFRA. Both good games, though. Wish we could have gotten a third one.
