What are you doing to not get the synergies? Out of curiosity. Stages 1-3 you should be done before the 15m mark, stages 4-5 take slightly longer because the enemy defence and hp increases which is a small dip in exp gains. Most of this is fixed by taking the extra gear slots in the skill board and then slotting in Deception cloak with Magnet or Hologear for the exp boost. Deception cloak and Hologear makes the last stages extremely easy and have more exp than you need.
Another tip, and some people might not like it, if the 1st three upgrades aren't tracking towards your build, restart. It's not worth playing catch up with gear and skills you dont want.
15 min is plenty --> lately im @ lvl 10 in 90 seconds of the game and by the time the boss spawns i'm lvl 30+. That's enough to get synergies.
There is another issue and that's the pool that you expand from the moment you start playing. The 3 rerolls are simply not nearly enough to increase a skill & gear pool expansion of more then 100%.
We don't need 30 min games.
We don't need 6 gear & 6 skill slots cause we can't max a skill into it's + stage
We do need a increase in options to pick from once you level up. We started with 3 ~ 4 options and that remained the same. It should be increased to 6 if not 8 so there's a much larger chance to get the skill / gear one needs to create synergy.
Apart from that some Tems need serious balancing cause their pool is much much larger then any other (my poor Platypet).

Did i miss any skills? Cause those are just the skill options not even gonna list the mountain of gears it can show on level up.
On an offnote it would also be great if we could do the following (in the future)
abillity to disable certain gear & skills as a Tem customization. This way i won't be confronted with the reanimation gear from Pigepig when playing Platypet.
Abillity to change level 1 basic skill to something else. In the beta Platypet's basic atk was wave not water blade. It be cool if i could switch it up to Toxic ink or any other basic skill.
Is it actually a problem though, I've never had an issue getting synergies, and the block function works fine for clearing certain gears/skills you don't want. I suppose it depends on what you are trying to achieve because all the levels are a cakewalk with every tem (well except oree, but oree is straight up ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥). Are you are just doing the map to clear or prolonging the fight to pansun farm? I use platypet alot on full toxic, or full water and the outcome is still the same, maxxed and map cleared. I've said it on multiple threads now, sleeping on Deception cloak+magnet, or Holoblock is a big mistake because you can hit 40 before the 15m mark if you push for the exp boosters.
You can refund the skill tree anytime. Just put everything on ultimate cooldown. For Platypet, I believe you still need to run around without killing the boss for like a minute or two to get to 15 ulti. Speed / Dash can help with getting away from the boss
maximum 20 minutes.
Increase mob numbers or exp.
my suggest: 5 min - first miniboss
10 min - 2nd miniboss
15 min - mob boom until 20 minutes with boss spawn.
