Why is xp share even a setting?

I don't even get why the setting even exists and should just be standard, we are playing coop, why would we also want to be against each other and steal xp?

For fun! Different strokes for different folks. Exp shared is shared, so you each get half of it. There's many players who prefer getting the whole of an experience cube. We prefer offering options for everyone than imposing one setting onto all players.

I would agree with OP that even if it's a setting perhaps it should be auto-on instead of Auto-off to start with. Considering it's a teamwork game and all.

I can see people having a competition to see who can level up more, I think having an option included is better than not. That being said, sharing should be the default.

I completely understand your feedback! That said, the design team considers the game is best played with that factor of competitiveness, so for the time being we're not going to be changing the default to Share exp. As long as both options are available, we think everyone can play happily.

I could imagine a team where they want the dps to lvl faster than the tank. So exp share off helps with that. No opinion to add for whether this should br default on or off, as long as its obvious

Well why not a setting to turn it on or off permanently? Sucks to start a match and go oh damn we forgot to turn it on, lets restart.

Why is the dev team trying to make this co-op game competitive? That does not make sense to me

They're not making it competitive, they're giving an option to literally please both sides of the coin. I don't understand why we're complaining about an option. If it was turned on by default, we'd be having the same discussion just the other way around by SOMEONE. It's right there in the middle of the screen. Choose your tem and check or uncheck it. I'm sorry but if you fail to make this very simple click that's on you. It's not exactly a new concept to have reoccuring settings you have to do after choosing "your character". Vampire Survivors anybody? Or many other survivor-likes for that matter?
