Rerolling books with D6?? [SOLVED]

will books always reroll as books or are there exceptions? maybe i've just had some bad luck and only got books the few times i've rerolled them

If you're rerolling them in a "Library" room, I think they always reroll as books.

As long as you're in a room whose item pool includes items besides books. Then yes.

I dunno how this works in Rebirth, but in the original Isaac you could reroll books into normal items AFTER you excluded them from the item pool by picking them up once. So for that you have to use the D6 several times on one floor. Though it's now just usable after 6 cleared rooms, it might get tough.

What items reroll into depends on the room your in. If you're in a treasure room, it's treasure items, boss room is boss items (except static spawns like meat cube and Steven), etc.

yupp, tried it and it worked.

since i had rerolled books 4-5 times in the library and got new books every time i never really wanted to waste my reroll when i eventually came across a book somewhere else.

thnx, i thought it rerolled from the same pool the item spawned from.
for example, if you get 2 red chests in the same room, an ordinary room, where one gives you an ordinary treasure room item and one gives you a devil room item, i thought if you rerolled those 2 items they would reroll from 2 different item pools since they spawned from different item pools. thats what got me confused when it came to the books. but i guess i were wrong :)

if you're in a library and reroll through all the possible books, picking them up and putting them back, it should go to the regular item pool

You could always reroll the books into another book in the libary after you picked them up and used them. You can get 4 free items with this trick if you can reroll often enough.

Hey, I got to this page too little too late, don't know if anyone's going to read this. The situation was, that I got library 2 floors in a row with 3 and 5 pedistals of books. I used diplopia on the 5 books and used eternal d6, I got normal items after all the books were picked up (taken from the item pool). I hope I helped someone with the question of "What will happen if I used d6 or Ed6 in library"

Adding a post moves the thread back to the top of the list. Everyone knows you necro'd this thread.

When you take an item, it is removed from all item pools. Rerolling items is supposed to generate items from the same pool the old one is from. When a pool is empty, it generates Treasure room items instead (golden room).
So if you touch all books from the library pool and reroll them once again into an empty pool, you get treasure items instead.

But I assume that back in 2015 such game mechanics weren't fully understood yet.
