Can't unlock tainted characters anymore

I did a Cain run - I dropped a chocolate bar in the 1st basement (it didn't drop cracked key) and i thought maybe i could use debug mode to open the door, tainted Cain flew up in the air...but didn't do anything; I tried undoing debug and nothing happened

I did Samson & Azazel runs too and now i can't unlock the tainted versions :(

List of things that prevent all kind of progress:
- Seeds (except a few special ones)
- Challenges (except for their reward obviously).
- Daily Runs.
- Reruns and Victory Laps (except for a few specific unlocks).
- (AB+) Any active mod from the mod menu before Mom is killed once on that save (no matter what they do, other saves are irrelevant).
- (Rep) Enabling the debug console in the config files.
- Paranoid antivirus programs (or missing rights) preventing the game from creating/editing its save file.

Are you dropping the trinkets in a boss or treasure room?

Yes, I dropped a chocolate bar in the treasure room as Cain
I did the same as the other 2 as well (I'm going to try again as maybe Keeper)

i just did Jacob run and STILL no tainted Jacob :(

not all items turn into a cracked key, they have all just a % chance. the chance decreases aswell with the amount you have already unlocked.

the best way to get a cracket key is ... hard but its 100%.

A chance? I must’ve had incredible luck then. I always got it and I’ve unlocked them all.

Where did this info come from anyway? I don’t see it on the wiki yet...?

Leaving Trinkets in a Boss Room or a Treasure Room will transform them into a Cracked Key when on the Ascent back Home.

the wiki says on the cracked key page that trinkets have a CHANCE to turn into a cracked key, this can be AVOIDED! with PERFECTION! which turns always into a cracked hey.

theres an alternative way aswell. if you are lucky and get in a run pandoras box, keep it until you reach isaacs home and use it there, pandoras box will always spawn the red key at isaacs home... and before you want to fight against that fact aswell

It’s saying there’s a chance you won’t find a trinket to turn into a cracked key, other than Perfection being a trinket that can be made guaranteed to appear.

yes, and said perfection turns to 100% into a cracked key. if you dont believe it. look into other topics. it got said there aswell OR, try it on your own. Perfection is a 100% cracked key chance.

The wiki says all trinkets are a 100% cracked key chance- the thing is you have to find one.

You said specific trinkets only have a chance to transform. That is not what the wiki says.

Technically yes, but the wiki says all trinkets are a 100% cracked key chance- once you find one.

You said specific trinkets only have a chance to transform. That is not what the wiki says.

all trinkets except for perfection which has 100% have only a chance to turn into a cracked key. that joe dosnt gets cracked keys is ALONE a prove for that fact. i had runs too which failed on tainted unlock cause the trinkets didnt turned into a cracked key.

you can increase the chance tho.
you can trop trinkets in the item room aswell.
item room and boss room have the chance to turn a trinket into a cracked key.
am not discussing about it anymore since i made the experience on my own where trinkets was CLEARLY in the boss room but there was no cracked key.
