Guppys Collar + Dead cat 10? lives = run over

I got killed with the above combo on Repentance.
On my 1k plus hours on AB+ I never once died like this, because dead cat always went first.
Is it by design or a bug that collar goes first now?
I have like 20 hours in Repentance and while I love all the new content I am a bit shocked at some of the core gameplay changes...

Extra lives items always trigger in the same order.

Any other item on you? What killed you?

Maybe has something to do with Lazarus? I got both the other day and I got my 9 lives counting down when I lost them.

maybe, but the fact is mine never triggered, his second form triggered, then I am assuming I failed guppys collar because it was just run over for the next death.
that has never happened to me before this DLC

Yeah sounds like a bug but since it didn't happen to me with a different character I was thinking maybe just a bug with Lazarus and the combo with his revive. It's not an intended design change with the 9 live and collar.

well this game sure has grown in almost 10 years.
i have no idea if any of the devs read this but i am hoping that there is a patch coming at some point
this is my most played game and is probably my favorite game of all time

No, unfortunately I did not write it down, but if it is a real bug it should be fairly easy to recreate those conditions

Have you installed any mods? Lazarus had been reworked not too long ago, so it could possibly be an outdated or conflicting mod, which affects him or his interaction with extra life items.

Then i'd try to verify the game files next. Hopefully it's just as simple as a gamefile corruption.

Before that, you can also try re-creating this situation, using the debug-console[bindingofisaacrebirth.fandom.com], which can help with troubleshooting.

Also, i'd suggest giving the link posted by Nazemec a visit to better understand how extra life items interact. Under normal circumstances, Guppy's Collar cannot possibly trigger, before running out of all lives from Dead Cat first. So either Dead Cat was bugged and didn't trigger or was removed somehow before.

Did you by any chance had a re-roll item, like the D4 or D100 on you? If you also held the Panic Button-trinket, Dead Cat could've been re-rolled, before taking fatal damage. Repentance changed Dead Cat to be properly affected by character re-rolls now.
