puzzle pieces

Okay, I know i've been ranting a lot about the whole datamining debacle and about how crappy the puzzle was.

and not trying to beat the dead horse, I just want to understand the logic behind this "seemingly random puzzle". Could someone at least explain this puzzle to me because apparenlty, i'm too stupid to figure it out.

people are arguing that the puzzle was solvable.

I admit, i never actually "tried" killing myself with the missing poster in the sacrifice room, until now.
it's just so rare to find the missing poster and then i usually find it when i'm on a run with a specific goal in mind, like I want to fight mega satan or something and I don't want to just throw away a 45 minute run to do this.

wtf is this? it's just a purple jigsaw piece, How am I supposed to interpret that?
or is it because I already unlocked The Lost on this save file, following the advice on the forums?


also this leads to another question.
People argued that the ones who used the info they read on the forums to unlock the lost did not unlock him "legit", that because the info was datamined and then shared when we should have figured it out on our own.

but then they say that we were all supposed to figure it out as a community and then post the information anyway. So the majority of new people would have just read it on the forums anyway.
what's the difference?

i was just mad because when i play a game, i want to figure it out on my own.
i always feel dirty when i have to look at guides.
i was also po'ed because i thought the "ARG" was stupid, because unless i happened to be in the right place at the right time , i couldn't even participate .

and the final thing that bugged me is how the devs had the nerve to get mad at the players for datamining the solution instead of running around all over the country with shovels, digging up crap just to unlock something in a video game that we want to be sitting at home playing it.

but none of this is even relevant anymore . this was 6 years ago . The Lost "ARG" is old news

Some secrets are meant to be discovered by singular players, while others need the work of the entire community. Both have a good reason to exist.
