This game is too much about pressing R
I love the game, but it's really its main flaw
It would nice if at some point they find a way to work around that

Edit : obviously, I'm talking about the use of R with the lost/keeper...

But why?

R is just the reset key, and people could still close the run and start a new game again.
The R key is just a shortcut, I guess.

Other than lost and keeper there's no reason to reset, pretty much every run is winnble unless you ruin it somehow.

I've rarely ever used Resets, even on Lost or Keeper. Unless I got something like eColi or Butter bean from the first item room or get trapped into taking The Tick in a narrow hallway

Point is, most of my runs came out pretty well, even with a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ start.

Only if you make it about pressing R.
In my 200 and however many hours, I don't keep track, I very rarely use the r key to reset a run.
I usually just power on through. Even the tough no damage runs.

I don't see how it's a flaw.
I've made use of the R, not much though, takes the fun and the RNG out of the game. If you rely too much on it, I'd say it's your "flaw", not the game's.
And if it´s not you who relies on it: Who cares?

Human nature makes the R button addictive once you start using it, because every item isn't good enough to start with then. Not the game's fault, it's a humanity thing.

Lol what is this pressing "R" i heard about ppl playing the lost doing it because they suck and cant handle it without a crutch but I didnt think it was a thing for normal runs.
Personally i got about 40 wins - never pressed R.

Wow.. And this for a person who hasn't even unlocked the Lost yet. Don't diss people if you don't know what you're talking about.

I'd rather people use R to beat the game as the Lost, than the standard Holy Mantle on him, but you don't here me dissing people over it.

You insulting random people who use R while playing the Lost is about as valid as me insulting you for only having played 90 hours. Or only having 40 wins. And you don't see me doing that.

Disrespectful. You should really be nicer.

He has got a point though. It is crutchy and a sign that people should get better rather than rellying on good items.

The biggest flaw of this game is the complete lack of a level editor and build editor

Should rewards points based on either achievement unlock % or times you've won...

Then allow you to design levels and starting builds on a character as you see fit...

really its a huge negative that the game lacks an editor

It's not necessary, if you want to do that kind of stuff, there's a modding scene. For instance, Afterbirth Custom Challenge Launcher which allows you to modify the game in order to create challenge runs and such.

OP, here's an idea. Don't press R. Rely on the items the game hands you and get better that way, instead of constantly resetting for a Proptosis as a first item.

Hit a nerve did I ? You must be one of the guys who need to reset until you got an item that will carry you. I'll disrespect whoever I don't see worthy of respect thanks and if you earned your achievement by resetting then your not worthy.

IMO if your going to take on the biggest challenge in the game then you should have some self-respect and do it honestly. Deal with the dice you've been given don't resort to rigging it in your favour.

I'm not masochistic enough to attempt the challenge but if I did I wouldn't cheat my way to the achievement. I'm a programmer so I could probably automate the resets until I got the mantle but I won't because it defeats the point.

It's not so bad once you unlock some of the better items in the game.

There wouldn't be a hotkey for reseting if it wasn't a valid option.
Mr. Sux Dec 5, 2015 @ 12:35pm
Resetting whenever you get a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ item (unless it's the first item room on like the first floor) just makes the game boring. If you just roll with what you get, you may just get a crazy run...
