Help with Mom boss

so i wanted to play with other characters (i just bought the game), and i dont want to do it with mods, but im finding it WAY too much hard to beat mom, any tips to defeat her? like if i should just restart runs until i get something good or maybe learn the pattern?

Take your runs nice and slow, don't take unnecessary damage early on. If you see the item "The bible." Take it. When you use it during Mom's boss fight, it'll instantly kill her.

I'm not sure if you have any mods installed, but, I'd highly recommend downloading and using External Item Descriptions. This mod tells you about the items you're picking up.

I'd also like to suggest turning on the extra HUD options. I believe it's called "Found HUD" in the options menu. This shows you the items you've picked up + stats.

Learn how to find secret rooms easily, and use any extra bombs attempting to find them. Don't be afraid to spend your coins in the shop to gain any advantage you can.

Finally, don't be afraid to take early game Devil Deals, as they tend to increase your damage output, which ultimately will help.

The best idea would be to keep trying her until you get a good feel for her attacks, try and stand away from the doorways and watch out for the shadows that her stomp move will cast. Also if you plan on using any mods, make sure you do so after you’ve beaten mom for the first time as it will prevent you from gaining new unlocks until you’ve beaten mom for the first time. As for what mods will help you out, EID is incredibly helpful for learning what different items do and it’s relatively un intrusive to the experience of playing the game.

If it makes you feel any better: that's the typical new player experience, so don't worry too much about it.

yea, like other ppl said it's just practice, over time she'll become barely an inconvenience

i actually defeated mom the first run i went after the advices, i got like 10 companions shooting on her, thanks yall

Mom is a pretty deceptively difficult boss, but if you boil it down, she's incredibly easy.

1. Stay away from the doors, as Mom's Arm will reach out for Isaac.
2. Keep moving as Mom will constantly stomp down.
3. Kill enemies quickly and efficiently.

Do this and Mom will cease to exist in no-time.
