Bro who hurt you so bad? Jesus just say you think its best to try things yourself for a bit and move on, gatekeeping freak.Talking about people crying and look at you...
Even Edmund himself said it was nice, and here you are jerking yourself off like you know any better, let people play how they want, disagree but don't act like they are beneath you for that.
And hell repentance adds allot of fun stuff to do
As someone who owns and appreciates the DRM free version of this game on GoG, I'm thrilled that we haven't been forgotten. I was actually starting to wonder, and I mean that as respectfully as I can manage. This is one of my favorite games of all time at this point, so knowing that even more polish is going into it is fantastic.
I'm sure whatever they cook up will be glorious.
Alright, see ya later and have a good weekend.
The ultimate argument: "Ed said it's a good idea". Have you ever noticed how youtubers who play with EID always struggle to remember what modded items or even things from official expansions do? The mod reduces your interaction with the game for the sake of single-run convenience and, in my opinion, makes the whole experience a lot less special and personal. Many people from a reddit post discussing the same thing seem to agree - even those who started playing after Repentance came out.
Instead of adding an out-of-place wall of text to vanilla and removing all memorization once and for all, a better thing to do would be to just extend the short & cryptic descriptions that pop up when you pick up an item. Then you'd still have to use it at least once to know what it does, and the fun of memorizing item effects would be kept.
A more thorough description can be included in the Collection menu that has been useless ever since the Flash version came out. Kinda like Gungeon's ammonomicon, but with more technical info than flavor text.
I'd love to see something like this, even if there's no descriptions added in the run itself. I like going back into the Ammonomicron to check out the cool unlocks and reading about them, and that'd be amazing (and quite a bit lengthier by now) for Isaac.
As far as memorizing items go, the only items I bothered to memorize early on were the items I definitely did not want to pick up again unless under extremely niche circumstances. Most of those are so obvious that they became hardwired into my brain. That gave me plenty of time to start figuring out what the other stuff does little by little.
I like the trial and error / experimentation aspect, but I guess it's not for everyone.
