The shop's one of the most useful rooms for T.Lazarus, because of all the battery-items and "Birthright", which is pretty strong for him, considering how consistently it appears in shops. The rest is micromanaging "Flip"-charges to get the most out of Treasure and Angel Room pedestals. Make a habit of leaving some rooms uncleared, so you can use them to strategically change characters.
Boss Rush and Hush will always be a pain to get to on hard-mode, though. It's just a bit more rare with slower characters, that have to min/max with their gimmick.
