Whats the point of going to downpour after basement 1?

Is there an advantage? Otherwise I would think going to basement 2 and then going to downpour 2 would be better since it's easier.

I am personally a fan of the new enemies, most of them are really easy and I don't have to deal with many of the basement 2 enemies I hate (especially the "Portal"). It's also "new" so I lack the unlocks of many characters

edit: and yeah, the "hidden" alternative is decent too

You can also get two boss items. The first is beating the boss normally, the second is as the lost by going into the white fire and then the mirror.

This is only on Downpour II, though. OP's asking what's good about Downpour I

Rooms with portals no longer appear outside of The Void.
