So, Devil Room or Angel Room?

There is a big debate in my head and I hope you will tell me.

Angel rooms are so much better now. Devil Deals tend to be unreliable seeing how often one only gets red chests or black hearts offered and no items at all.
On top of that, Angel items are free and you can increase your odds to get those sweet deals now.
Devil deals are still not bad, but not THE go to route anymore.

I've just been skipping devil rooms, myself, and going for angel. Too many times getting burned with ♥♥♥♥ like three red chests that all contain spiders

Depends on the character and situation on the second or third floor. Got a good pool of soul hearts in front of a few red hearts early in the game and want a power spike immediately to protect said soul hearts? Sure, I'll walk into the devil room, still leaves me with a 50/50 chance of devil or angel in the future if I don't take anything.

If I don't have enough HP to take anything safely or only have soul hearts I'll skip it completely and go for angel. I'd say my runs are split about 60/40 in angel favor, which is much better than before where an angel run would only happen unintentionally or if I needed Mega Satan.

Angel Rooms. Not only do I not like the diluted Devil Pool, the layouts themselves suck.

One I got recently was 3 Devil Beggars who I couldn't get to payout, especially since you can't come back with hearts lying on the floor.

There IS a trinket that actually makes them good by consistently giving items though.

devil deal if you're good on health and need more offense, otherwise angel

I skip first devil deal for guarantee angel deal, after that i check to see if there's something good enough in either devil and angel deal later on.

I don't seem to have any issues regarding the layout of devil rooms, maybe I just got lucky with them. Besides that, I still go for the guaranteed angel room 99.9% of the time. Afterwards, if I find something worthwhile in devil deals, I'll take it. You can sometimes find free health there as well, which is nice.

I was die hard on the devil deal a few days ago but looking at some of the nerfs the top devil deal items have received, I think that angel rooms are just stronger. Bethany especially has some very nice unlocks. Also rip maw of the void

Yep. Skipping first devil to get 100% angel next pays well. Even if i'm relatively stacked on health by the end of floor 2 theres good chance of getting pricy mediocrity. Angel room can be weak too but its guaranteed Something at least and you can spend all extra health on next devil deals as checking dd past first wont bring any penalties.

Now, would i take decent damage up or health generator in devil deal to zero chance for future angel rooms? Probably. And i'd actually hop in first devil room if i got coupon, diplopia or even Mr. ME! Items indevil pool arent terible by any means but game got 'slowed' with more timid power ups so keeping 3 hearts and rely on juking longer is more viable than throwing all buffering gambling for obliterating build. Thats why Angel rooms are 'better' too - most bad rolls will at least give health up or free item for no health down.

Ironically, despite that fact I had and I will insist Angel Rooms are better and worth skipping the first DD for, I don't even mind that many of the nerfs. Maw of the Void and Athame were the only major ones, the rest like Abaddon and Brimstone are still alright.

I just hate the diluted pool and the changes to pricing, the worst one being random soul heart deals. You know, the one thing that keeps you alive on Devil Deal runs. And I hate Krampus. And Curse of the Blind. And seemingly more active items than the Angel Room pool. And the new red heart meta, which I love, but hate how it makes DD more redundant.
