Theorycrafting: What are the best 8 items you can have? (additional rules)

There are additional rules...

First off, by 8 items I mean 8 passives plus an active If your passives include the backpack you can take a second active, but BIRTHRIGHT is restricted.

Secondly, unlike Tainted Isaac, you will not be allowed to boost via item swaps. This means you CAN'T pick up "The Body" and then just swap it out (see rule 4 though), once you get an item that's it. But you do start with all 8 (9) items.

(note, you might be able to find a "butter" to swap ONCE - but that's it)

Thirdly, like above, you can't just take Rock Bottom and swap items for infinite stats... if you want Rock Bottom soy you're gunna have to actually KEEP both of them.

Fourthly, while item and shop rooms will not generate and bosses will not drop pedestal items; you might still encounter gold chests, challenge rooms, vending machines and map specific random items (like when a pedestal spawns in a normal room type). Likewise Angel/Devil rooms will not spawn via their normal mechanic but you can still get into them via Red Chests or Joker cards and they will have their normal Pedestals... still, you can only HOLD 8 items so you should only count on these as swapouts if you plan to build that way.

Fifth, as a bonus, you can be any CHARACTER while doing this to get their special ability and starting hearts as applicable.

Naturally this is going to come down to preference and there's no real right answer... I just want opinions.

Also, the goal can be whatever you want... you can even just Plan C Delirium and call it a day if you want.

Start as the lost. rock bottom, soy milk, polythemus, cricket's head, crown of light, sacred heart, eve's mascara, and ghost pepper. Then, utilizing the holy mantle and flight, get perfection in your trinket slot, and find a lucky penny somewhere for 11 luck total. Spacebar item is glowing hourglass to assist in keeping your perfection, or glass cannon which will do 1,056 damage per shot. Overall:
- 5.5x fire rate
- 104.6 DMG stat
- flight, spectral shot and holy mantle
- 1 blue candle shot every time you fire a tear

another idea is this:
start as bethany with 6 stacks of PJs, the shovel, booster pack, and starter deck. Restart until you get an emperor card and a chaos card. Then, use the shovel until you get to sheol, pop the emperor card, kill the fallen, and use the chaos card on satan's 2nd form. This will allow you to beat the game extremely quickly.

Dull Razor, Habit, 9 Volt, Varicose Veins, Brimstone, some kind of flight item, and you can honestly have 3 empty slots at that point because you have at-will invincibility that also shoots death rays in all directions. Samson if you want to be really overkill.

I'd say it depends on what your lucky to get if you can further a synergy to your advantage. Example of a good synergy would be like Pyromaniac/ host hat and halo of flies + 1 pretty fly or just 3 pretty flies would make you immune to bombs and pretty much most tears.

Honestly with the pyromaniac you could go brimstone + icepac synergy which blows up everything in it's beam including things like rocks and walls as well. If you were immune to the explosive damage from the ice pac you could also enjoy items like eye sore and quadshot. I'd say the intruder which is a really great item but from reading on the wiki you might not be able to see how long it takes for the beam to charge if Isaac's head comes off with The Intruder. I'm not entirely sure if Intruder's tears are different the Isaac's as well which Quad shot I know is essentially Isaac's tears. Intruder also adds the effect of slowing down enemies as well for a small time though. On top of anything said things like guppy transformation still work so you could still benefit from guppy the flies are reduced to getting a 50% chance to spawn instead of every time so it's a little weaker then previous to Repentance but still pretty powerful especially if you got 9 volt battery and guppy's head. Add in rotten hearts and you'll have plenty of flies. Guppy made my Bloody Mary challenge easy as I kept getting rotten hearts and had the guppy head.

In regards other powerful transformations could be tech X + spoon bender + proptosis and ludovico technique will allow you to have one very thick laser ring in which you control where it goes. With spoon bender it will allow the circle to bend hitting the enemy more as well. Which Tech X has a lot of synergies you could explore to find something powerful. In regards it's great for never needing to be anywhere near an enemy.
