The tainted characters blow

While Tainted Forgotten really changes the way you play and is fun, the real busted character is Tainted Judas. He is simply the best character to start with.

His power is OP, allows to survive anything, and boosts damage, and kills stuff, and gives free spike/curse room pass. I mean, you get dark arts on any character, it's a GG.

All tainted characters are there to challange you and every single one has a unique mechanic: 1 has to craft his own items, other avoid a ghost that spawns after spending 30s on the floor, another has a limited number of items he can pick up, and another rerolls everything you have every time you get hit etc.

I don't have them all yet but tainted Azazel is fun. I wondered before myself about a trade off like this and I'm glad it became a reality.

Not that I know of, they all have unlockable items though.

Tainted Isaac was interesting and tested my ability to prioritize items. It helps that you can trade away health up items without losing the heart container, too.

I recently unlocked Tainted Cain and I have no idea what I am doing with him. I get how the crafting system works, but it seems like all the items I end up finding to craft are junk, and because I am spending my consumables to craft items I end up being very scarce on resources. I also just find his playstyle too slow and not very fun.

Idk I love tainted Lilith. Whats not to love about a ranged aoe melee attack. And she can still shoot tears. I think she's my fav of the bunch so far.

Tainted aza is not bad

Tainted Maggy I haven't played much. Its seems like a high risk character.

Tainted beth, while I don't have her she seems great and fun.

Tainted cain, HATE IT HATE IT HATE IT HATE IT. The fun is in the random and he takes that away.

Tainted judas, don't much care about him

Tainted apollyon, sure he's not as good as regular apollyon. But its still nice turning every trash item into a red attack fly that stays with you the whole run. I quite like him, you can focus on flies, your tears, or a bit of both.

Tainted Eden, Idk why I would play this. I could just D4 or D100 any other character. I don;t plan to EVER play this character again after getting its unlocks.

Haven't unlocked any others so far.

Jacob is the one I'm just not sure of.

Like, he gets this unique item that seems really cool at first... until I realize that I cant REALLY use it in interesting ways, because I have to just slap that charging fire dude with it over and over again.

Dont get me wrong: I get that he's supposed to be a challenge character. Totally understand. But it's one of those things where it's more annoying rather than challenging. At least so far. I need to keep playing with him more. Always a chance I'm just approaching it the wrong way, after all.

Other than that, they've been good so far. Though I keep wondering if Tainted Bethany could use just a bit of a nerf. Once she gets going, which doesnt take long, she seems downright untouchable. Gets even stronger if she gets battery-related items that can keep her book thing charging faster, or any items that make red hearts more common.

Generally speaking beating mega satan with them unlock powerful baseline mechanics including things like the crane game which has an insane amount of powerful items in its item pool Such as "Cricket's Head", "D6", and "Mutant Spider".

The crane game can give and each one has a 1/4 chance to give an item per use and can give up to 3 items(You can see the current item you're trying to get from it) per machine.

I've gotten brimstone and chaos with the bethany book, which let me pick up sacred heart in the shop, letting me roll through the rest of the game

I tried Tainted Cain again and I just don't like playing as him. I crafted with higher tier consumables but I always just seemed to make garbage. And I don't think that playing as this character with a crafting manual would be all that fun. I think I will pass on this character.
