The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

Ultra Hard is...
Well, I assume it's akin to getting your ♥♥♥♥ cut off, stuck on a pole, shoved up your own ass, and then, you're forced to play a regular ol' game of Isaac with no health drops.

Yeah, that sounds about right...

Who knew health and spirit hearts were pretty useful, aparently not Nicalis...

That was the hardest part. Not the blind items or double bosses...or champions and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stone golems blocking you everywhere... Just not having the ability to heal regularly is annoying.

It took Tech X to do it for me. It's probably the worst challenge In the game for me, although I hated Brains as well. Almost all enemies are champions, and the combination of the curses makes me want to throw my computer straight out of the window. Either maze/lost is fine, but both?? AND XL FLOORS!? Beating all the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ champions and quadruple bosses is the damn easy part.

Agreed. Annoying, sure, but no health drops in any form?! Edmund, you monster...

For me, it was the unlikely combination of Guillotine, Monstro's Lung, Cupid's Arrow, Placenta and Small Rock. All together, clutched Isaac so hard, then Lost Contact in The Chest was sealing the deal against MS. Though, the damned horsemen nearly killed me due to the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ patterns of Death & War summoning in explosives out of nowhere..

The worst thing I found was the demon turret guys in the curse room who copy your movements.

Best item I've gotten on the challenge to date was juda's shadow. Every other item's been crap.

Bah just got to the chest in ultra hard thanks to D100. But my damage was low for mega satan so after a battery dropped i went into the next room because the d100 would reroll it otherwise. I get a terrible combo ipaac, conjoined, and fruit cake or 3 dollar bill so very often my own shots hit me.

Then the stupid curse of maze teleports me as I go back into the battery room and curse of the lost means I never found the battery again. Basically lost all my hp to my own tears then lil horn room and I can't fire or I die. Death by horn balls waiting for rotton baby to take out the lil horns.

Can you remove those curses with "Black Candle"? Rune "Purity" does nothing, I tried it.

It probably only protects you from curse of can't see your hp since its the only random curse in the challenge.

This challenge is worse than Brains, in my opinion - at least in that one you were able to freaking heal. Here? You almost have to restart until you get something that gives you health, or else you'll be pretty much pre-Afterbirth Lost, only worse. I think this challenge would work much better if you simply started off as Blue Baby - that way regenerating health would still be hard, but not stupidly hard.

At least you get item rooms. It's still easier than vanilla Purist challenge.

I don't think so. In vanilla Purist you only lost six items from treasure rooms and that's it, everything else was the same. Here you have less deals and shops (because curse of labyrinth), you can't choose which item to take (because curse of the blind) and you can't even heal (because bullsh*t).

Yup, I held R looking for mom's knife or tech x. Found tech x and still only managed to beat it with a single red heart.

Definitely the hardest challenge in the game now. Worth it's name.

It is much easier, because:

No "challenge", which can be beaten by simply restarting the run till Mom's Knife, Tech-X or some good defensive item (Scapular, Holy Mantle, etc.) can be considered even close to being difficult.

I still dislike the challenge. It's just tedious if you do it "no cheese". No challenge whatsoever (you know, how one would expect from a challenge). Sh*t just takes an eternity to kill. Now add the dreaded portals into the mix and you may fight in the same room for like 5 minutes.
With a lack of health drops, you really rely on high DPS more than anything else there, so i blame no one for "Hold R to win".

And i liked the BRAINS!! challenge, btw. Speed was (and still is) the only really, really bad one.
