Showdown Feat 41 'From Shadow!' assistance
Am I dumb or something? There's no dodging in this game. Sure, there's 'Dark Wave Dodge', but whatever I do doesn't seem to... work.

Black Knight has 2 dodges. One of them is used by holding up when firing his dark wave projectile and the other I can't remember. If you ever have trouble with a character's movepool, always push start and check the move list if something is unclear.

Edit: Pretty sure you need a human player to get this rather than a CPU?

Yeah, I looked at his moveset and saw both of those. I even used a human player. The wording is just really vague. I had Shovel Knight charge a slash, Black Knight charge his Dark Wave, and used them at the same time. Nothing, for both dodges. I should have been a bit more clear in the opening statement. And it was the finishing blow in a showdown in both cases.

EDIT: Okay I looked around a bit more and found this post made by user 'raijink'

"Okay, I finally got it. Not entirely sure what made the difference. I made the opponent Goldarmor and activated a forward dodge Dark Wave right as he started Swift Strikes. It might be that the opponent has to be in the process of attacking both at the beginning of the dodge and when they get hit. I was just about to try something similar against a continuously plowing Polar Knight, which would probably be the easiest to set up with one set of hands, but who knows what actually counts with how finicky this game is with feats."

And lo and behold, it worked.

Lol I literally got it on my first try after doing a forward dodge instead of back. I think at this point the writing on the achievement needs to be updated because I have tried so many times with back dodges that it never worked yet on the forward dodge worked right away.

The CPU (goldarmour lol) only starting attack after I was behind it

None of this worked for me. Maybe I don't get what the forward dodge is exactly? The input is kinda weird, it says to hold up, X AND forward? Is it simply when Black Knight fires Dark Wave in a different direction?

When you do the forward dodge, it's specifically a different animation - Black Knight lunges forward and shoots at the Dark Wave in the direction he came from, which means it lets him jump past attackers. The way I did it is basically I needed to hold X as you hold the keys in the Up and Right direction at the same time. I believe the way I did it is I held Up and X, and as I was about to release it, held Right (This is while facing right.)

It's possible to do it against a CPU... but it's just really, really awkward because you don't quite know if your computer opponent is gonna try swiping at you or just do very weird actions instead.
