King of Cards: What does picking a fairy do?

So I just had an NPC imply that that using a decree of rejuvenation before jumping into the void carter pit has a secret.

So I did just that and found the secret where you get to pick a fairy but that's it, no keeping the fairy or special unlock? Is there something I'm missing?

I have noticed that the rat-copters have fairy wings now, but picking the rat-fairy didn't change anything. Still not sure what I'm missing.

From my understanding, the only thing I've notice is that it tells you what your favourite fairy is in the ending. Rats, I was hoping to have my Fairy of Torment flying around with me during gameplay.

That might be for the amibo functionality on the Switch. That's what that character's supposed to be up to.

AFAIK it simply unlocks King Knight's room and you get two unique cards there.

You can access K's room the moment you get the frog bubble heirloom and the 2 unique cards in their.
