My friend wanted to buy this game for his children who's 8yo... we wanted to know if this game is suitable for a 8yo kid.

Yes. In Europe it's rated as 7+, with the description "The content of this game is suitable for persons aged 7 years and over only.
It contains: Non realistic looking violence towards fantasy characters - Non realistic looking violence towards characters which although human are not very detailed"

I would advise searching for 'Shovel Knight Let's Play' on Youtube, as this will show you some extended gameplay and give an idea what the game is like to play.

Also I'd advise picking it up in the next 3 hours as the price will go up considerably once the sale is over.

It's not an easy game, though (by current standards). If the kid has experience playing platformer games, then no problem.

Content-wise - no probs with that.
Gameplay-wise... Im not kid, but got my butt burnt way often (play platformers since sonic on sega mega drive) :D

I think that an 8 year old would get frustrated given the game's difficulty... Otherwise, it's suitable for kids, absolutely.

Let your child be tempered in the fiery-hot pain that was NES difficulty! Let him/her KNOW the pain that her ancestors had to go through to clear a game, the struggle that was rescuing the princess/saving the world in those days.

That sort of thing made MEN out of us! And look at us now, wouldn't you say that all that blood, sweat and tears was worth the end result?

.... OK, on second thought, maybe DON'T subject your child to what we went through and just let them enjoy the game whoever they feel like.
