Question about floors 14-17

So these are all the floors where the tentacles are trying to murder me. I was just wondering, other than the bonfires strewn about, is there a shortcut back to the main area that I am missing? Otherwise every time I die on one of these floors, I have to start at 14 and try to progress. I've unlocked each door to progress up to 17 where I died yet again. It's such a drag because each time I have to re-gather supplies and try to find the lantern again on one of these floors all before trying to find the key I need as well to get to the next floor. Just want to see if I am missing something or if all I can do is make warps at bonfires or start at 14 every time.

I've gotten to this point of the game, and I'm probably going to stop playing due to the same issues you're probably experiencing.

Really enjoyed the game up to this point.

i stoped at the start of level 17 in last run ( didnt died) .i found the strat of getting the shield up all the time and moving with dash really efficient .

Yeah that's exactly what I do. Seems to be the most effective. Still quite tough though

Need quick advice. Is short cut at level 18 or 19? I am now on the transition between 18 and 19. If I jump, I will not be able to return. Help!

at the end of level 18 there is a shortcut if i remember right

there are not shortcut in the darkness.. you have a shortcut before and after the darkness. so the next shortcut is in 19. fix: floor 20 i guess, the desert level , not sure what number it was.

go into the darkness with the dark helmet, you will have much easier time there, it reduces the damage you take by a lot

Thank. But unfortunately late. Maybe I looked inattentively, but where is level 19 ?! 18 was the last level with darkness, then 18/19 transition level, then a jump into the abyss and immediately 20 level. And I foolishly spent two of my attempts twice and did not find a shortcut = (At level 20, I found a single (!) Trap and died in it. On the second attempt (through a blue bonfire) I immediately went to level 20, examined it and got an achievement "depart" and the game started anew. OMG ... I spent the whole evening on the grind and passing from level 14 to the end level, I died because of the buggy textures on level 16. But I could still get to the body again. I there is a dark helmet, I had a lot of resources. And ... apparently I will have to go this way again.

well it might be my mistake , i mean the desert area, if thats 20 so thats the last floor and from there you can teleport back to the shore/main area, its the last shortcut of the game.

By the way ... was there always a "bit of light" on the starting coast, or does it appear after achievment "depart"? I do not remember whether I was ever with a lantern on the starting coast to check it out ... hm.

its ok , you were suppose to swim down there to get it, its the last piece of light in the game and needed in order to finish the game. after you will have all the lights you go to the tower in the skies where you can see the stars and then back to lvl 16 to open the black sphere and discover what lurks below...
