Demo won't download

I started downloading the demo and paused it. When continuing later it was "finished" - not! Now when I try to delete it and download it again, it is "finished" without downloading a single byte. This basically sucks as I had plans to try before I buy. Now I won't buy before I've tried.

My issue is a little different, I tried downloading the demo and when I go to my downloads it says that it finished near instantly, then when I go to my library to play it I get the error "missing executable" already tried the suggested fixes and I got nothin'.

It's the same thing really. I get the same error after deleting what was already downloaded to try to download everything again. Says download is completed but the game folder is empty. More strange is when I check the download integrety it says alle the gamefiles are ok, even though there are no files at all.

FYI: Tried it again yesterday and it downloaded right away.

Same problem here.
Downloaded 0 bytes / 0 bytes. The folder is empty. Tried deleting local files from within steam and reinstalling: still the same.
I'm on Ubuntu Linux if that helps.
Didn't try a clean steam install because I'm lazy.
