Thoughts about the ending?
Okay, I've finished the story, but I have so many unanswered questions and I'd like to discuss with you guys what do you think about the ending.

My personal theory is that the baby had somehow died during his sleep, and his mom was the black coat creature from the last chapters (when you actually approach her she shouts something like "stay away from me" and your screen shakes like it did when the black creature approached). When someone knocked at the door, the baby opened it and it was literally God who saved him from that.

It might also be that the baby was a lunatic (because his mom was drinking likely when she was pregnant), who knows...

Thoughts?

I think that the creature was the mums been alcholic. The bear could be the representation of the dad trying to protect it. Also, the last person could be the social service or the dad coming to retake it. There is no such thing as the baby dead.

I think the mum is an alcoholic as those above have mentioned and the creepy creatures in the game are versions of her that the child is seeing. The teddy that accompanies you also wonders where the mother has gone, he's possibly thinking along the same lines of the child. The strange coated figure that takes the teddy away and damages him is the mother, she's cluthing him at the end when you go to take him away from her and she mentions about being sorry.

Also as you grab the bear she pushes you away, the screen starts to shake as it did when coming close to those monsters. The guy at the door is probably your dad or a social worker, someone that the mother didn't want around the house (shouting at the beginning of the game).

My theory is that the father was the one who gift the bear to the child, mother was fighting for cusody for her child which lead to depression and acholism. In the child's mind it was a monster but in reality it was the mother drunk and very abusive to child. In the end is the father finally able to take child away from her.

Yes, what others said above. The mother was depressed and alcoholic and abused the child. During the game it was probably uncertain who would get custody of him and at the end the father came. It was also the father who sent the bear and his voice is also similar to it, he was the protector.

the best for me was when the mother was drunk (monster mode), took the teddy bear doll (father's gift) and put it in the washing maachine

The sound effects are the scary thing, not the gameplay.

I don't think it was social services who knocked at the door, because before his mom said "HE will not take you from me". Most likely his dad or even God. (might sound funny but I'm not a believer)

Okay idiots, there is no imagery or mention of death or religion in the game.

The reason for the white light when he opens the door is because they didn't want to render a whole new set of textures and assets for an outdoor area, nor did they want to model a new character for all of 2 seconds.

Also if they did it would take away from the fact that his dad has the same voice as the bear. They wanted you to realize that part. If there was a visual aspect it would take away from that.

so pretty much with everyone on the alchohalic mom bit but I interpreted her as the creepy treant creature in the woods (that was also the image she took when she shoved you at the end). The coated creature has to be her too but I'm confused as why they had two seperate images/creatures for her.

They showed her turn into it during the spotlight segment. It wasn't subtle. The trenchcoat is what the baby interprets his dad to be. An ominous force who wants to take him away, that's why it has no face. But the only reason he would see his dad as a monster is because he doesn't know him. It's a fear of the unknown, it's not because his dad is evil.

This stuff is shown to you in very clear imagery. You people are retarded.

Do you realize what did you say? IMO you're the re t a rded person here. How comes the black coated ghost is his dad if "he" ripped off teddy's arm at the end?

Did you when you typed this sentence?

He didn't. He never did that. What are you talking about?

He's trying to stop the boy from falling but the boy's weight tears the arm off.

Which I guess I should also point out the following since the blatancy seems to have escaped you again.

Neither monster expresses a direct threat to the boy. They both try to grab him, nothing more. It's reflective of the battle over custody they're having over their child.

But while the female monster is very clearly a disfigured and disgusting creature representing the fits of rage she has when she's drinking. (Because he views her as a vile entity)

The turncoat male monster is just ambiguous because the boy doesn't know much about his father. It's very possible that he doesn't even know what his father looks like. All we as the player see of him prior to the final scene is the off screen interactions he has with the boy's mom. (The boy views his father as an unknown entity and his monster counter-part reflects this very clearly)

So no, I'd say you are mentally defunct one "IMO".
